Venice Film Festival 2025: Screenings by Day & The Stars to Watch on the Red Carpet
The 82nd Venice International Film Festival is finally here, running from 27 August to 6 September 2025, and while cinephiles are eager for world premieres, us fashion lovers have their eyes firmly on the red carpet. With so many of our favourites due to hit the red carpet at Venice, I’m hoping they deliver some unforgettable fashion moments this year.

Here’s a breakdown of the key screenings by day with the actors we can expect to see (and whose looks we’ll be eagerly dissecting).
Opening Night – 27 August
- Film: La Grazia (Paolo Sorrentino)
- Expected Stars: Toni Servillo, Anna Ferzetti
- Style Watch: I’m expecting old-school Italian glamour to set the tone in Armani by Anna Ferzetti.
28–29 August
- Jay Kelly (Noah Baumbach)
- George Clooney, Adam Sandler, Laura Dern
- Style Watch: Laura Dern is always one to bring sleek sophistication; George tends to keep it classic Italian tailoring, but Amal is going to steal the spotlight here.
- After the Hunt (Luca Guadagnino)
- Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield, Ayo Edebiri
- Style Watch: Julia Roberts’ Venice return is highly anticipated – will she stick to her signature menswear-inspired suiting or surprise us with bold colour? I want to say that Andrew Garfield will wear Gucci, but I think we will see him in Valentino. This time last year I would have said that Ayo Edebiri would be in Loewe, but considering the exit of Jonathan Anderson, I’m not so sure.
- Frankenstein (Guillermo del Toro)
- Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi
- Style Watch: I expect Elordi will continue wearing Bottega Veneta head-to-toe, as Julianne Moore has shown us that a change in creative director doesn’t necessarily mean a change in ambassadors.
- Bugonia (Yorgos Lanthimos)
- Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons
- Style Watch: Emma’s Louis Vuitton guarantees another high-fashion moment. Hopefully will be less divisive than her Cannes Film Festival look.

30 August
- Late Fame (Orizzonti Section)
- Willem Dafoe, Greta Lee, Edmund Donovan
- Style Watch: It’s been a while since we’ve seen Greta Lee on the red carpet. What I wrote about Ayo Edebiri and Loewe applies here as well. My second guess would be The Row. Dafoe in Prada is a safe bet.
31 August – 2 September
- The Smashing Machine (Benny Safdie)
- Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt
- Style Watch: I expect bold Haute couture from Emily (she’s been favouring Schiaparelli) and sleek Dolce & Gabbana suiting from The Rock.
- A House of Dynamite (Kathryn Bigelow)
- Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson
- Style Watch: Rebecca Ferguson can be a bit of a wildcard, but for major festival she does go more towards classics. I would not be surprised by a Dior, Armani Privé or Westwood moment. Could Idris Elba give his favourite label, Eve of Winston, it’s Venice debut?
- Father Mother Sister Brother (Jim Jarmusch)
- Cate Blanchett, Adam Driver, Tom Waits
- Style Watch: Cate, aka Venice royalty. Armani Privé? McQueen? Louis Vuitton? Givenchy? Take your pick. She’ll own the carpet regardless. Adam Driver? Classic tailoring in Armani.
- The Testament of Ann Lee
- Amanda Seyfried, Thomasin McKenzie
- Style Watch: Amanda often balances ethereal Miu Miu looks with old Hollywood gowns – expect elegance.
- The Wizard of the Kremlin (Olivier Assayas)
- Paul Dano, Alicia Vikander, Jude Law
- Style Watch: Alicia in Louis Vuitton is almost guaranteed – a major moment.

3–4 September
- No Other Choice (Park Chan-wook)
- Lee Byung-hun
- Style Watch: Korean stars always deliver sharp, minimal tailoring – expect clean lines and perfect fits.
- Dead Man’s Wire (Gus Van Sant)
- Cast attendance TBD
5 September
- Marc by Sofia (Sofia Coppola documentary)
- Sofia Coppola, fashion insiders likely in attendance
- Style Watch: A fashion-meets-film dream. I’m expecting understated French chic, even though it will likely be designed by Marc Jacobs.

Closing Night – 6 September
- Dog 51 (Chien 51) (Cédric Jimenez)
- Cast TBC
- Style Watch: Closing nights usually bring dramatic couture to end the festival in style, this is where the Armani Beauty ambassadors will shine.
- 100 Nights of Hero (Critics’ Week Closing Film)
- Nicholas Galitzine, Emma Corrin, Maika Monroe, Charli XCX, Felicity Jones
- Style Watch: This might be the red carpet moment of the festival. Emma is known for daring looks, Felicity leans classic think Erdem and Dior, but brace yourself for Prada. Nicholas’s Armani partnership means we’ll likely see him in head-to-toe Emporio Armani. My guess would be Charli XCX in Westwood, or something that strikes the perfect balance between rebellious and glamorous.
