Marion Cotillard Goes Understated in Chanel at Venice

Marion Cotillard is attending the 2026 Venice Film Festival as one of the mentors of the 2025-26 Biennale College Cinema programme, which gives some important context to her wardrobe. Rather than being in Venice to promote a film, the French actress has opted for two understated Chanel looks suited to her role at the festival.

Mr. Nelson, Did You Kill People? Premiere

For the Mr. Nelson, Did You Kill People? premiere, Marion Cotillard wore a Chanel Fall 2026 Haute Couture look featuring two layered bustiers – one in black wool and the other in white satin crepe – over black trousers.

I have absolutely no issue with the muted look, even with the addition of Chanel High Jewelry. The Plume de Chanel necklace, inspired by the feather motif from Gabrielle Chanel’s 1932 Bijoux de Diamants collection, give the event some glamour.

My issue is entirely with the fit. I don’t find the bustier particularly flattering on Marion, and the trousers are far too long. On the runway, the proportions were much sharper, and that difference is hard to ignore here.

Earlier today, she was dressed in Chanel again, this time opting for an ecru denim overshirt and matching wide-leg jeans.

I much prefer this to the premiere look. As someone who isn’t usually a fan of Chanel footwear, I love how the burgundy pumps pick up the contrast stitching and leather cuffs on the jacket. It’s a small detail, but it makes the entire look feel cohesive.
