Shakespeare In The Park’s ‘Twelfth Night’ Opening Night
Celebrities gathered in New York City last night for the opening night of Shakespeare in the Park’s Twelfth Night, bringing a mix of theatrical nods, bold statements, and red carpet intrigue. Some looks leaned into Shakespearean drama, others into modern artistry—but not all of them left me fully inspired.
Ruffled and repeated
Are you having a case of déjà vu with Lupita Nyong’o’s Chanel Fall 2025 look? That’s because the white ruffled collared blouse beneath a black tweed outfit is nearly identical to the Chanel ensemble she wore on Jimmy Fallon just last month. While it certainly fits the Shakespearean brief, the sense of repetition is hard to ignore. I’ll always appreciate the craftsmanship and theatre behind Chanel, but this partnership is starting to feel less inventive with each outing. The Matthieu Blazy era can’t come soon enough.

A cape that could have had its moment
Moses Sumney’s Thom Browne Spring 2022 grey cape with delicate white floral appliqués might have missed two golden opportunities—the 2024 Met Gala theme The Garden of Time and the 2025 tribute to André Leon Talley—but that doesn’t diminish its impact here. It’s proof that a great statement piece doesn’t expire. Moses carried it with the kind of presence that makes you forget what year it’s from.
All in the details
Sandra Oh opted for a CFCL Fall 2025 black dress, but the real intrigue only begins from the blue embellishment downwards. The top half is uninspiring, while the bottom half added depth and interest. The look was finished with Marie Lichtenberg and Anita K jewels.
