Wearing a black Yanina Spring 2023 Couture peplum skirt suit embroidered with vibrant red poppies, I am completely and utterly in awe.

Honestly, I prefer this over her London premiere look, which was stunning in its own right, but this felt like a more restrained and powerful homage to the darkly glamorous matriarch she plays.

The structured silhouette has a mid-century elegance with a vampy twist. It’s the kind of look that says, “I could host a séance and a power lunch before noon.” Morticia would absolutely approve.

What really elevated this look was the red poppy embroidery blooming across the fabric. Poppies are traditionally a symbol of remembrance, sleep, and death—has there ever been a more Morticia-appropriate motif?

The symbolism is subtle but deliberate. Morticia is known for cutting the heads off roses and keeping the stems. Here, Catherine flips the narrative—she embraces the bloom. It’s Morticia reimagined.

Jet-black cat-eye sunglasses, a sculpted waves, and glossy red pumps completed the look. Every detail served the story, but it never tipped into costume. It was an intelligent blend of character tribute and sophisticated glamour.

I’m loving this storytelling. And in this story, the villain wears poppies.
