Sarah Paulson Wore The Row To The MOCA Gala 2025

Sarah Paulson is the kind of woman who makes red carpets exciting. You never quite know what she’s going to do, which is why we love her.

Balloon poodle sculpture dress by Marc Jacobs at the Vanity Fair Party? Sure. Rhino-shaped shoes at the WSJ Innovators Awards? Why not. A fully feather-and-pearl-embroidered Schiaparelli jacket at TIFF? Yes please. But for the 2025 MOCA Gala, she may have taken her boldest swing yet…wearing taffeta.

A fabric known for its drama—and not always in a good way. It wrinkles on contact, photographs poorly under harsh lighting, and rarely survives a red carpet unscathed. It’s high maintenance without the guaranteed payoff, which is why most stylists approach it with caution. Ariana DeBose knows the struggle all too well.

Even more surprising? This taffeta gown came courtesy of The Row. You’d expect a masterclass in minimalist tailoring, but instead it felt oversized and underwhelming. The colour didn’t add much dimension, and the black Métier clutch didn’t elevate the look.

I’m only sold from the Tiffany & Co. necklace up.

Stylist: Karla Welch.
