When I mentioned that Elle Fanning had arrived at the Cannes Film Festival, I’m sure many of you already pictured her floating down the red carpet in a whimsical confection—something dreamy and ethereal, as is her red carpet signature.

But for the Sentimental Value premiere this evening, she completely flipped the script, wearing an Armani Privé gown that traded fairytale magic for full bombshell glamour.

The pale blue hue falls firmly within Elle’s preferred colour palette, and the blush pink floral appliqués add a romantic touch. But it’s the structured bustier neckline and body-hugging silhouette that introduced a fresh sensuality we don’t often see from her.
