‘The Balconettes’ (Les Femmes Au Balcon) Paris Premiere

The Paris premiere of ‘Les Femmes Au Balcon’ (The Balconettes) held at Pathe Wepler on Monday was not only a celebration of cinema but also a nod to French fashion labels. The night had its fair share of standout looks with three actresses—Sanda Codreanu, Souheila Yacoub, and Noémie Merlant—leaving their unique mark on the red carpet.
Fearless in Balmain
Sanda Codreanu took the spotlight in a Balmain body print trompe l’oeil knit mini dress, a daring choice that would make anyone look twice. The dress leaves little to the imagination, outlining every curve with a graphic precision that’s impossible to miss. Though it’s definitely a bold look, there’s something admirable about the actress’ confidence in pulling it off. The dress, in its commercial version, was a risk, but one that Sanda owned to be fair to her. You may remember that Gigi Hadid wore the embellished version from the Balmain Resort 2025 collection to the Vogue World: Paris After-Party which evoked the essence of Renaissance nude artwork.
Dark Romance in Dior
In contrast to Sanda’s boldness, Souheila Yacoub brought a different kind of attention with her black leather Dior Resort 2025 outfit. While the rest of the ladies seemed to be embracing shades of blue, Souheila made a dramatic statement in her edgy, gothic ensemble, which featured red embroidery with the words “Fierce, Moody, Emotional, Difficult, Nag, Hysterical, Feisty, and Bossy.” As someone who also recognises the truth behind those descriptors (especially when hungry), I appreciate how she owned the look’s dark romance, pairing it with a dark cherry lip and over-the-knee biker boots. I wonder if pigtails are a prerequisite for this collection?
Déjà vu-ish
Noémie Merlant opted for a blue off-the-shoulder dress from the Louis Vuitton Resort 2025 collection. While the dress was elegant in its own right, wasn’t as intriguing as the runway version worn by Saoirse Ronan. The pleated balloon skirt, which had been a standout trend for Louis Vuitton in recent time, was the selling point of the look, so it has lost some of its signature flair. Noémie’s dress still had a certain charm, but it didn’t fully embody the uniqueness that we expect from a Louis Vuitton creation.
