Janelle Monáe Wore Cong Tri To The 2023 NAACP Image Awards

Janelle Monáe attended the 2023 NAACP Image Awards on Saturday (February 25) in California.

Usually, we can easily predict a Janelle look right down to the colour (black and white, or black or white) and label (Thom Browne or Vera Wang), but she threw caution to the wind and completely switched gears in all categories.

Hair, makeup, and styling.

I would never have predicted Janelle to do a complete 180 and serve up this custom Cong Tri red cut-out dress. 

I’m almost tempted to say that something is missing, as she doesn’t even seem to be wearing much jewelry.

But this is a result of seeing Janelle throw everything but the kitchen sink when it comes to accessorising her looks, so I’m going to fully appreciate this rare gimmick-free moment.
