Janelle Monáe Wore Valentino To The National Board Of Review 2023 Awards Gala

Janelle Monáe had fun with colour during her ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ promo tour, but she was back to black for the National Board Of Review 2023 Awards Gala held in New York City on Sunday (January 8). 

I’m sure many of you are doing the Hercules clap as Janelle opted to add a few more layers to her Valentino Resort 2023 tulle cut-out gown which was semi-sheer in the look book.

I would’ve been less enthused had they lined the diaphanous puffy sleeves, as they give the gown a delicate touch and enhance the feminine feel.

I love a ready-to-wear gown like this which combines haute couture sensibilities with modern glamour. 

We all know that Janelle loves a quirk, but after scanning this look from head-to-toe, no quirks are detected.

Sweeping her hair up into a retro bouffant, Janelle’s look was styled with Nikos Koulis earrings which complemented the embellished details on her gown and tooth jewellery.

So I guess there was a quirk after all.
