2022 Governors Awards Menswear

Greg Tarzan Davis in Brioni

Here is a roundup from the menswear looks from the 2022 Governors Awards which took place on Saturday (November 19) in Los Angeles.

I must start off with the look which instantly caught my eye and that was Greg Tarzan Davis.

If you thought his love for flamboyant styles and colours was just limited to his ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ promo tour, you were mistaken.

Greg kept the same energy wearing a flamingo pink satin lapel suit from Brioni.

Aside from loving this for the colour, the blazer is good, but apparently those quads can’t be contained.

Celebrity stylist Jason Rembert must have so much fun working with Greg.

Luca Guadagnino in Loewe

‘Bones & All’ director Luca Guadagnino, who was pictured alongside Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson, was one of my favourites of the night.

As we all know, Luca is very loyal to Loewe, and for this event he wore a bespoke Loewe midnight blue styled with a red silk shantung shirt with matching scarf.

As much as I do love statement menswear looks, I also love how Luca continues to present classic styles with a twist.

Aldis Hodge in Waraire

A silk wrap shirt? On Aldis Hodge?  *I’m typing from the afterlife*

The ‘Black Adam’ star was looking as sharp and as handsome as ever wearing a custom Waraire suit.

Austin Butler in Saint Laurent

I mean, are we really paying attention to the tailoring of Austin Butler’s Saint Laurent suit considering he forgot to button his shirt?

Cartier jewels completed his look.

Jeremy Pope in Alexander McQueen & Dries van Noten

Trust Jeremy Pope to serve up something classic with a twist wearing an Alexander McQueen black satin suit with a metallic gold Dries van Noten turtleneck.

Celebrity stylist Ugo Mozie always has Jeremy slaying at these events.

Joe Alwyn in Celine Homme

Double-breasting is a traditional feature which feels like it’s making a comeback in contemporary suiting, and Joe Alwyn’s Celine Homme suit brings it to attention upon a backdrop of refined crisp white tie-less shirt.

Am I the only one looking at Paul Mescal in this Prada double-breasted suit and feeling that it’s too big for him?

Cartier jewels completed his look.

Danny Ramirez in Dolce & Gabbana

If you’re looking for a tonal look in anything but black, Danny Ramirez is your man.

The ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ actor stepped onto the red carpet wearing a lush Bordeaux tuxedo with shawl lapels from Dolce & Gabbana.

I love how the silk satin details prevent this from feeling flat.

Colin Farrell in Dior Men's

I will never.  I repeat NEVER, get tired of seeing Colin Farrell wearing a classic tux.

I don’t know who styles, grooms and tailors his suits, but as a team they are a match made in heaven as they never miss.

The Irish actor was looking as impeccable as ever wearing a Dior Men’s collection look.

Those silk shawl lapels are sending me over the edge.  I’m in awe.  This is perfection.

Colin posed alongside his ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ co-star Brendan Gleeson.

Taron Egerton in Brunello Cucinelli

Taron Egerton always presents a look that marries classic and modern.

On this occasion he was looking very James Bond-esque wearing a dove-coloured Brunello Cucinelli jacket with black pants.

Glen Powell in Brioni

This Brioni navy tux was a classic Glen Powell look.

Jude Law wore a classic black Brioni tuxedo.
