Sofia Carson Wore Elie Saab On ‘American Idol’

On Sunday (May 1), Sofia Carson made a guest appearance on ‘American Idol’ where she joined the top nine contestants on stage to lead them in a performance of ‘A Whole New World’ from Disney’s Aladdin.

The singer has always matched big performances with a big gown, and this time it wasn’t from her preferred designer; Giambattista Valli.

Instead, she wore a look from Elie Saab’s Fall 2020 collection.

Much like Jennifer Lopez’s look yesterday, I am getting a dated feel from this look.

I don’t mind high-low dresses, but this look feels like it was stuck between deciding which one to go for, then gave up.

What I do love is the amethyst purple hue, even if it feels very wintery for the current season, and the dramatic pouffy sleeves.

The rest needed to be reworked, starting with the ruffled wrap-effect skirt.

Much credit needs to be given to Sofia who managed to breath some life to this look and still look ravishing, perhaps due to the power of her performance.
