(Digital) Front Row @ Christian Dior Spring 2021 Haute Couture

Christian Dior presented their Spring 2021 Haute Couture show to the world on Monday (January 25), with a jammed-packed digital front row full of celebrities and influencers from across the globe.

What’s the upside of virtual front rows?  The shows start on time.

I can’t tell you how many times I have been at a show, and it has been delayed for an hour (or more), only for XX celebrity to take her seat, then the lights immediately go down and the show starts.

I’m purposely starting with these three to show the range of styles at this virtual event.

Maria Bakalova: We have the up-and-coming, awards season hopeful, who injected plenty of colour and youthfulness to this event wearing a Dior Fall 2021 red silk georgette D-Leopard Pop blouse with wool shorts and Dior shoes. Does the sheer blouse bother me? No, Not really. I feel like the blouse gives this an airy, feminine feel.

Ora Yang:  Then we have a Dior Cruise 2021 striped white and blue dress styled with a Dior belt, Dior jewelry and J’Adior slingback pumps, which is giving me retro, 1950s housewife elegance.

Carina Lau: The Hong Kong actress sprinkled plenty of glamour wearing an event worthy Dior Fall 2020 embroidered black tulle dress.  Was this OTT for a virtual front row?  Nope.  not in my eyes.  This was a Haute Couture show after all.

Beatrice Borromeo: How many times have I said that comfort is key during these times? At least 1200 times.  The royal who famously wore five gowns when she wed Pierre Casiraghi back in 2015, is very accustomed to Haute Couture, but she kept things super casual wearing a Dior Spring 2021 blue jumpsuit for the occasion with a Dior printed scarf and Dior sneakers.  This time last year I probably would’ve hated this, but she managed to make this simple look work in a interior designer chic kinda way.

Yuko Araki: The Japanese actress wore a Dior Spring 2021 jacket and skirt which has the most DNA of what I regard as a typical Maria Grazia Chiuri look.  The Dior veil was a nice added touch.

Sara Serraiocco: While this Dior Pre-Fall 2021 red jumpsuit styled with a Dior black leather bag, socks and shoes is a charming look, I would’ve loved it more had this not been patent leather.

Lena Mahfouf:  The French vlogger has great style, but I’m not a fan of the black J’Adior slingback pumps with this colourful Dior Cruise 2021 embroidered dress.

Phoebe Dynevor: Between the crispness of her white Dior shirt and the edge of the Dior black leather bustier, I think the ‘Bridgerton’ actress was perhaps my favourite at this event.  Were the trousers too long? If they were an inch longer I would’ve said yes.

Erin O’Connor: Sometimes you need one piece to bring everything together, and that’s what Erin’s Dior Pre Fall 2021 ‘Dior Mille Fleurs Pop’ coat is…the hero of this look.  We can’t ignore the Dior Caro bag or the Dior red patent leather shoes, but the coat of many colours sold this to me.

Velove Vexia:  I am a little conflicted when it comes to the Indonesian actress’ look.  On the one hand I can’t say I’m the biggest fan of the camel leather belt. It doesn’t give the same edge to this look as she hoped, or that Phoebe’s brought to her look.  But on the flip side, I think that this Dior Cruise 2021 shirt and skirt combo might have felt too ‘ Little House on the Prairie’ without it.  As far as the accessories go, they didn’t work.  The mini Lady Dior bag doesn’t complement or co-ordinate well, and the grey J’Adior slingback pumps were a really poor choice both in style and colour.  Camel flats would’ve been my preference here.   Perhaps stripping all the accessories back and going full Prairie would’ve been the better choice.

Rose Williams:  I have no issue with the English actress double, triple or quadruple denim with this Dior Spring 2021 look which included a beautiful ‘Dior Jardin’ pattern denim jacket, but I’m not a fan of the bell-bottom style Dior Cruise 2021 trousers.

Naian Gonzalez: The Mexican actress wore a Dior Cruise 2021 look might feel a bit tame, until you spot the cut-out in her embroidered top.
