Olivia Colman In Emilia Wickstead – 2020 Golden Globe Awards

Olivia Colman In Emilia Wickstead - 2020 Golden Globe Awards

Oscar night last year for Olivia Colman was great on a professional level, but not so much on the fashion front due to her Prada and Stella McCartney gowns.

But it’s clear things have changed, following her promo tour for ‘The Crown’.

On the night of the 2020 Golden Globe Awards, we saw the British Oscar-winner take to the red carpet wearing a custom gown in raspberry textured cloque by Emilia Wickstead.

The look is gorgeous, regal; the perfect colour for Olivia.

But I’m slightly baffled by the length, especially for a bespoke piece.

As it’s too long, it has a knock on effect to how the skirt sits, creating an unfortunately, and unnecessary dents.

This really could’ve been one of my favourites had it not been for this.

Chopard jewels completed her look.

I love the colour, but the fit and proportions are off, in my opinion.

Even if she didn’t wear the harness, I wish the neckline was the same as the runway look. It is too high…showing a bit more skin would have been better.

I hate this whole outfit as soon as I noticed the seam across the chest. I can’t avoid it.

    Her stylist must hate her.

The colour is lovely but the dress is disappointing and stands in sharp contrast to our queen, Helen Mirren. What a shame!

This is better than what she wore to the Oscar’s.

    Her stylist modified the gown.
The black harness would have been too much for an older woman like Olivia. On a younger starlet , yes.

    I love the sleeves

I like the color of the dress and her beauty look and that’s it.

This is unfortunate. The color is lovely on her. The sleeves combined with the high neck make her seem overly broad across the shoulders. The fit of the bottom is definitely off. It’s just not flattering and frankly she doesn’t seem at ease in it.

I think there are too many distracting elements here. I don’t love the seam running across the chest, for instance. But the high neck, I do like.

She just does not dress well on the red carpet. It’s okay, Olivia, you can act. Sometimes, you can’t have everything.

The skirt doesn’t sit right at all The sleeves and color are great.

    Ugh no, no, no.

O goodness. Its not the length thats the problem, its the gigantic proportions of the shoulders/sleeves!!
She looks like a footballer. It widens her incredibly….
This is a worst dressed. the designer went all wrong here. and the stylist.

Her stylist is, frankly, incompetent. From Olivia’s Oscars duds to this – style wise an improvement but how the team messed up on the fit and tailoring is kinda shocking.

And it would only take a few tweaks. So disappointing.
