Michelle Williams In Louis Vuitton – 2020 Golden Globe Awards

Michelle Williams In Louis Vuitton - 2020 Golden Globe Awards

With a newly announced pregnancy, Michelle Williams embraced a new silhouette on the red carpet for the 2020 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 5) in Beverly Hills.

Michelle tends to rock form fitting gowns, but for her nomination for ‘Fosse/Verdon’ this year, the actress went for a custom flowy number from Louis Vuitton.

Michelle’s stylist Kate Young said they were inspired by a loosely draped top from the designer’s Spring 2020 collection.

Keeping the orange shade and sculptured blue flower on the right shoulder, the resulting dress looks like a Greek goddess’s dream, highlighting both Michelle’s poise and strength.

While Kate said the duo like to experiment with bold color choices, I’m not sure if this shade is the best for Michelle. I have nothing against orange, but this shade of orange does not seem quite right for her hair color and undertones. Still, this color sets her apart from the pack.

Badly executed…the colour is drab and the knots on her shoulders feel lazy.

I really want to like this… but it seems too many bows for two arms.

    Bad hair day.

I like this color on her but that blue thing is terribly distracting.

I agree with you Catherine that the shade of orange is a tad bit off , and I also think there something askew with the shape, but I can’t quite put my finger on it. Its rumored that she may be preggers, so that might have something to with it.

Her hair is a tad bit shorter than it was at the Emmys, and her Emmys length worked much better, imo.

All that being said, she had one of the most powerful acceptance speeches of the night, and won for an INCREDIBLE performance.

Love the color and the blue flower. Imo the hairstyle isn’t the most flattering to her

She looks barely alive and the dress is awful. Nope.

Her face on the picture says it all!

Perhaps it’s only in this photo, but I agree. That is a sad, sad lady.

I think what’s bothering me about this is that shade of orange. It’s soooo bland! Maybe if it was yellow or a deeper orange? I don’t know but it doesn’t completely work for me…

Kate Young is one of the worst stylists because she is so bafflingly inconsistent it boggles the mind her clients don’t leave her after they get those fashion contracts, but this is a win. The orange is divine against Michelle’s creamy skin. Her speech was like ‘thanks for the globe PRO-CHOICE HELLO but good for her. I am glad she made her speech count.

This is terrible on every level. The dress is ugly and her hair is worse

This looks like something you’d find on the flint stones….I used to love Kate young but recently her stylings have been really bizarre….

Great, now I can’t unsee this!

it is striking and unique from other dresses tonight. her speech was so inspiring!

  14. Guest January 6, 2020 at 3:43 am #

The blue thing looks like a scrunchie resting on her shoulder.

  15. Guest January 6, 2020 at 3:42 am #

It’s an OK look. I just wish the orange to be brighter and the belt to be in white, so it would’ve had some colour blocking effect.

  16. Guest January 6, 2020 at 3:38 am #

it’s fine, but unfortunately really suffers in comparison to her iconic marigold Vera Wang at the 2006 Oscars.

I wouldn’t have been able to tell she was pregnant. Maybe if the top was paired with a long column white skirt, similar to the runway this would’ve been better. As it is, it looks quite sloppy. She doesn’t look overjoyed to be wearing it either.

  18. Guest January 6, 2020 at 3:38 am #

The top design in both versions makes the wearer’s torso look disproportionately huge. Colour scheme wise I actually like it on her for some reason.

  19. JasLinds January 6, 2020 at 3:36 am #

I like this. It’s a good pregnancy dress and the colour is quite refreshing.

  20. Maya_S January 6, 2020 at 3:35 am #

    I think she looks great.

  21. Originalmeme January 6, 2020 at 3:34 am #

Nope and her speech was insufferable

  22. Phee phee January 6, 2020 at 3:34 am #

The color of dress and her hair just dont work.
But the main complaint is the oddness of the bodice/neckline. It fits really strange. Like its pulling the fabric too hard over her chest to get it to tie on the arm.
the blue seems too random. like an insect peeking out from under the dress.
    Not her best.

  23. Guest January 6, 2020 at 3:34 am #

    No.

  24. Guest January 6, 2020 at 3:33 am #

She looks like this was inspired by the Statue of Liberty and that is not a good look.
