Lucy Liu’s Matador ‘Traje de luces’ For The ‘Why Women Kill’ LA Premiere

Lucy Liu's Matador 'Traje de luces' For The 'Why Women Kill' LA Premiere

Lucy Liu attended the LA premiere Of CBS All Access’ ‘Why Women Kill’ held at Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday (August 7) in Beverly Hills, California.

As you know, Lucy Liu has always been my number one girl, so I was delighted to see her step outside her regal princess box, and serve up something totally unexpected in this Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2019 Haute Couture look.

But does unexpected equal good?

Kinda.

I love the matador ‘traje de luces’ (suit of lights) vibe of the outfit, but I wasn’t so enamored by the styling.

And it’s minor things like a neater bow, the skirt needed to sit half an inch lower, the Tyler Ellis Grace pouch bag seems highly unnecessary, and the ankle strap platforms wouldn’t have been my first choice with the bubble skirt.

This isn’t an easy look, but do you think Lucy pulled it off?

Zendaya’s the only one who could possibly make this work.

I love her, but this is tragic.

It just hurts me to see Lucy looking this bad – especially as with some minor adjustments this could’ve been another hit

Just what exactly is this? Goodness gracious, nuh-uh and nope. Halloween-worthy.

Love her but this is one look that doesn’t work for her. at all.
I dont like the bubble skirt on her, or the styling.

It kinda works on the model but it all looks like a bad joke on Lucy. Almost pains me to be critical of Lucy’s style.

No I don’t think she pulls it off, I’m not sure anyone could, the entire outfit feels costumey as someone said.

This is just not an outfit for her, this makes her look like she’s wearing a costume tbh. Also, those shoes are very dated, they seem like they are from the very early 2000s (i.e. those YSL Tribute sandals from back then).

I like it on the runway, but no, I don’t think Lucy pulls it off. It’s not for her. I can imagine someone like Cara Delivigne rocking this.

I love Lucy (no pun intended) but this is a no for me.
I think she is too petite for this, because the proportions are completely off. The skirt is way too big (it makes much more sense as a short mini skirt like on the model) and the ankle strap platforms shorten her legs even more.
I wish she would have wore this with high waisted pants and simple pumps instead.

    anonymous as always

Exactly, what you said, plus the bag is too much for this outfit.

    It doesn’t work on her.
