Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge In Alexander McQueen – The Portrait Gala 2019

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge In Alexander McQueen - The Portrait Gala 2019

You may have a slight feeling of déjà vu upon seeing Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge at the Portrait Gala 2019 on Tuesday (March 12) in London, where Victoria Beckham, Alexa Chung, and Jourdan Dunn were also in attendance.

She wore an Alexander McQueen Resort 2016 floral gown that was a variation of the dress she wore at the 2017 BAFTAs.

It’s amazing what a change in neckline and hairstyle can do to a look.

The sophisticated elegance of the off-the-shoulder, updo moment two years ago was replaced by a slightly more casually romantic sophistication here, thanks to the cap sleeves and her modern, loose waves.

Which was your favourite version?

You don’t do THIS to a bespoken McQueen gown. It’s almost like wearing Crocs to this dress.

I like this look and I like the BAFTA look. The only thing I don’t like is her hair this time around.

Much prefer the first iteration. The sleeves make it dowdy.

I actually prefer the lookbook version. The top contrasts nicely with the full skirt while not becoming too much like what the Queen used to wear when younger.
However, the off-shoulder was better (though not executed great). This square neckline and hair down is very generic.

I’m bored. Didn’t like it at the BAFTAs. Don’t like it now.

I didn’t like that much the dress on the first outing but I still prefer it to this version.

She should’ve at least pull her hair back.

I love that she’s recycling but I didn’t like the dress (shape of skirt and pattern) the first time around and I don’t like it now.

I prefer the runway version . I don’t think either of her changes did any favours to the dress

This is nice but I prefer the first outing. Recycling is great but tbh I do want to see a new dress. I wish they would just accept freebies.

The first outing was far superior. Her hair is in desperate need of an update.

    Don’t like it at all

Both are lovely but the BAFTA version is superior.

I like both versions but perfer the latest one, really love the sleeves and neckline.

The most consistent recycling celebrity on the planet, I swear. I feel like we’ve been granted a favor when she wears something new.

I prefer the version when it was off the shoulder, nothing wrong with the sleeves though. She has a gorgeous mane but with the sleeve modification, she should have pulled her hair away from her face and shoulders.

That’s because she buys all of her clothes, she doesn’t borrow them like celebrities do. Her closet must be the size of the throne room at this point so I would be surprised if she didn’t repeat.
I just dont understand the need to have two nearly identical dresses. She has so many pieces that look alike, this one, her Bafta dress from this year, and both of her outfits that she wore to last years royal weddings. It seems incredibly wasteful to me.

I liked this until I clicked through to the BAFTA version of the dress.

The BAFTA’s look was way better.
