Zendaya Coleman In Atelier Versace – 2018 Met Gala

Zendaya Coleman not only paid homage to 2018 Met Gala co-host Donatella Versace on Monday (May 7) in New York City, I think she was also paying tribute to Joan of Arc.

Literally armored in an Atelier Versace silver gown, the young stunner easily turned heads and had me in awe with her commanding presence.

Wearing the look from head to toe, she completed it with a cropped wig for another layer of edginess.

Who knew chain mail could at once show such strength and such effortlessness.

Last year, her look ranked high on the charts for the top Met Gala looks. Does this one continue in that same form for you?

I LOVE this. Though my first thought on seeing it wasn’t Joan of Arc so much as Crusaders. I suppose either works!

Between her and Shaileen’s interpretations of Joan of Arc , Zendaya was more direct – but also the more successful of the two due to the fit and the hair – she literally is the painting come to life! I love it

My second best dressed of the night, this was so unexpected from Zendaya,we all remembered her previous MET looks including big ball gowns and big hair,so for her to take a subtle approach is really fresh.
of course, she executed the look with flying colors

Fierce and a really great take on the theme. She’s quite literally the only person who could make this look work for me.

  10. Guest May 8, 2018 at 8:02 am #

Loving this. Loving the concept of the dress. Never thought an armour could be given a feminine touch and still retain the ferocity. Oh, and the hair. One of the best dressed of the night.

I want to love it but it’s just too literal. Really it looks like the most uncomfortable dress of the night. She’s so changing in 10 minutes.

I feel just the waist or neck armour would be sufficient as having both makes the look too literal.

  18. Alba May 8, 2018 at 4:41 am #

I love the dress but not the hair. Maybe in a different color but the red doesn’t suit the color of the dress.

  19. Crystalline May 8, 2018 at 4:27 am #

This is so cool but I do not see the resemblance with the theme. What is the corelation between Joan of Arc and Catholic? Please somebody enlighten me.

    • EmmaWoodhouse May 8, 2018 at 4:46 am #

She’s a very significant Catholic saint.

    • Santiago May 8, 2018 at 4:51 am #

A heroine of France for her role during the Hundred Years’ War (saw visions of figures she identified as Saint Michael, Saint Catherine, and Saint Margaret, who told her to drive out the English and bring the Dauphin to Reims for his coronation). Burned at the stake. Then declared a martyr and more recently canonized.

Thank you for the brief explanation!

Why do readers on this site kiss Zendaya’s behind so much??????? This is not BDOTY let alone best dressed of the night. If ANYONE ELSE was wearing this, it would go without pain ir glory. I’m baffled.

    YES.

Wonderful choice again by Zendaya!! I love it! It fits the theme without being too Halloween costumey and she looks great. The liquid chain-mail train is outstanding.

I’m not really a fan of the wig and the gown has one Joan of Arc element too much for me, but kudos for making an effort and having fun with fashion.

Commander Zendaya, she slayed the medieval army. Soooo good

This was THE gasp moment for me tonight. Just absolutely unreal!

I love how it’s a very literal Joan of Arc reference but the fluidity of the dress keeps it from being a costume. Straight to BDOTY list for me.
