Emma Roberts In Diane von Furstenberg – 2017 Met Gala

Emma Roberts turned the blue carpet red at the 2017 Met Gala on Monday (May 1).

The actress wore a red Diane von Furstenberg gown with an accompanying pink DVF stole, red and pink handbag and Monique Péan jewels.

Let’s start with the good, shall we? The classic silhouette and color and impeccable fit of the gown are stunning. I’m delicate lace accents at the straps and hemline are also simply superb. However, I’m afraid the pink stole and the pearl handled bag are just too much together and officially make Emma look like a Barbie. You can’t unsee it now, can you?

I’ve always loved what a hair color chameleon Emma is, and brunette may be my favorite color for her. I also love the choice of the mauve matte lipstick with a red gown.

I can’t wait to hear though–is it just me, or does she look like Met Gala Barbie?

Ditch the bag but keep the stole. This is off theme but I love it, the Pink fur is perfect and I like the contrast with the dark hair.

I love this so much I might cry. Theme or not this is perfection.

I do think the Barbie-ness was completely intended and I also love it! While it isn’t really on theme, I think it has a lot of fun and energy and the longer I look at it, the more I like it.
Kudos for doing something unexpected but still chic!

I agree with everything you say, but I’m thinking it was entirely intentional to have some fun with this outfit and elevate it from “beautiful but a little bit conventional and a little bit dull for the Met” to “fun with fashion”.

Plus, Emma looks gorgeous, which really matters.

I don’t know why the hell I like this and it’s frustrating.

I don’t mind the Barbie vibe. It would have been a bit boring for this event without the fur stole, in my opinion.

I love this look. So fun! Very Chanel #1 lol

I know, right! And her expression tells me it’s intentional.

The accessories were highly unnecessary and yes throws her into Barbie territory… silly. Great color on her. hm

Yes, there’s a hint of Barbie there but I actually like the unexpectedness of the pink stole and white pearls. I think it just ads a bit of fun and frivolity to it.

What is the functional point of that fur? It’d be kind of annoying to drag around all night and yet probably too pricey to leave anywhere.

    No. No.No

I really miss her strawberry blonde hair

She *does* look a bit Barbie. I’m not really feeling it for this event tbh.

Yeah, Boudoir Barbie. As custom tailored as the gown is, the material will always photograph as cheap. The fur and bag doesn’t help with the vibe either. But her hair is amazing.

It’s so fun! I love the accessories. In my opinion they made the look. love love love!

lol I see it! The fur and the bag are too much! The dress on it’s own is nice and neck-up she looks wonderful! She really should just stick to brunette.
