W Magazine’s Movie Issue

W Magazine Movie Issue

W magazine’s ‘Movie’ issue features six different covers chronicling the best films and performances of 2013, including Amy Adams, Oprah, Lupita Nyong’o, Jennifer Lawrence (in Dolce & Gabbana), Cate Blanchett and Matthew McConaughey, all of which were captured by Juergen Teller.

The surprising thing about these covers is that Jennifer doesn’t appear to be wearing Dior; that honour was bestowed upon Lupita.

Jennifer shared with the mag that moment when she fell at the 2013 Oscars, saying “I was at the Oscars, waiting to hear if my name was called, and I kept thinking, ‘Cakewalk, cakewalk, cakewalk’. I thought, ‘Why is ‘cakewalk’ stuck in my head? ’ And then, as I started to walk up the stairs and the fabric from my dress tucked under my feet, I realized my stylist had told me ‘Kick, walk, kick, walk.’ You are supposed to kick the dress out while you walk, and I totally forgot because I was thinking about cake! And that’s why I fell”.

Which cover will you be picking up?

Lupita and Matthew for me. Unfortunately I can’t stand Juergen Teller’s photography, but oh well. I wonder which cover I’ll be receiving in the mail with my subscription. Probably the Oprah one as it’s my least favorite. No disrespect to her, I just think it’s a poor picture.
That story about Jennifer at the Oscar’s was really cute!

Um, no, Dior should be honored that Lupita Nyong’o is wearing the brand given the dreck that has been coming from that house recently. I’m not a fan of Miu Miu either; this elegant woman will elevate that brand as well.

oprah looks amazing in that carolina herrera…lupita is so fresh and elegant, she is the perfect Dior girl! (if only these french brands would put women of colour on their runways and in their ads)

Oprah, really?! Isn’t she on her own magazine covers enough? She was probably great in The Butler, but can we give this opportunity to someone who’s actually nominated and could use some good publicity? I love Matthew and Lupita covers. I’m rooting for Matthew this award season and the silliness is so typical of Juergen Teller’s work. Lupita looked gorgeous and is a great actress.
