Michelle Obama attended the National Prayer Service at the Washington National Cathedral yesterday morning following an amazing night at the inaugural ball.
The First Lady wore a custom Naeem Khan ivory wool-appliqué 3/4-sleeve coat with jewelled neck and trim with a matching sleeveless dress.
I knew Mrs O wouldn’t let this moment pass without donning at least one look from the Indian designer. In fact, this is the eighth time that Mrs Obama has worn designs by Naeem Khan, the first time being at the administration’s first State Dinner back in November, 2009.
Opting to wear her hair in an neat updo, she styled her Sunday Best (even though it’s Tuesday) look with nude kitten heels and light makeup.
You can buy Michelle’s Jimmy Choo ‘Aza’ pumps from Net-A-Porter.com, Nordstrom.com, Jimmy Choo US and Jimmy Choo UK.

The picture of class! Lovely, understated, I could go on and on.
Mrs. O can’t seem to win with some people. When she looks like this they complain that she’s too dressy or looks like a child in her mother’s clothes (or elitist or whatever the talking point of the moment may be), when she dresses in a more relaxed way they say she doesn’t take her position as First Lady seriously.
I’ve enjoyed watching her style over the last 6 years or so and I look forward to what’s to come. She has definitely shown that real women with real curvy, beautiful bodies can dress with style and grace.
The ensemble is a bit like something that Queen Elizabeth, which has pros and cons. I don’t like the shoes. Hair is okay.
I’m not really feeling this look….not sure why…….but I am not. And the bangs aren’t a favorite either!
this is the second best her bangs have looked since she wore her hair side-parted right after the cut. i was NOT a fan of the feathered look on inauguration night- it looked like a bad wig
She started in blue, moved to red and ended up in white! This is a gorgeous ensemble, consistent with the rest of her gorgeous wardrobe for these events. The woman has class and style. What a thrill!
Not great. Way too dressy for the occasion. I don’t think I like anything about this look.
Stunning!
This is a very lovely and appropriate look. I really like the coat and the dress.

FC: do you have any info on MO boots she wore in the parade? I understand they were made just for her, one of a kind. Don’t know the designer.
She looks beautiful here.
the info is in the previous post
The boots were Reed Krakoff’s. Currently sold out.

Generally not a fan of the bangs, they look okay here.
+ 1. And how gorgeous does she look in that outfit. Sigh.
