Zhang Ziyi In Chanel Couture - 'Only God Forgives' Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Zhang Ziyi, who is one of the jury members of this event, seems to be doing a good job filling the void left by her fellow jury member Nicole Kidman (where is she?).

The Asian beauty stunned wearing a Chanel gown from the Fall 2009 collection this evening on the red carpet for the ‘Only God Forgives’ Cannes Film Festival premiere.

Her strapless organza gown, fully embroidered with gold-and-black sequins, also features a flowing chiffon train and satin bow accent around the waist.

Many looks from this collection to hit the red carpet appeared sans train, but this is Cannes — a train is almost a red carpet prerequisite.

Impeccable styling, as we’ve come to expect, included Chanel Joallierie jewels, a Ferragamo ‘Faberge’ egg clutch and Jimmy Choo black peep-toes.

Barely there makeup and a simple bun completed her look.

Do you like the train, or does it feel like an after-thought?

Elsa Zylberstein In Armani - 'Only God Forgives' Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Elsa Zylberstein attended the ‘Only God Forgives’ Cannes Film Festival premiere held at Palais des Festivals in France this evening.

She wore an Zuhair Murad gown; however, her white lace high-neck gown with an open back didn’t quite pick me up and sweep me off my feet like Kristin Scott Thomas’ did.

Even with the silver clutch, sparkling earrings and red lip colour, I feel like something is missing, or maybe the high-neckline is working against me.

Astrid Berges-Frisbey In Chanel Couture - 'Only God Forgives' Cannes Film Festival Premiere

We haven’t seen many above the knee dresses this Cannes Film Festival, however, Astrid Berges-Frisbey decided to buck the trend whilst attending the ‘Only God Forgives’ premiere at the Palais des Festivals this evening.

The French actress, who pretty much exclusively wears Chanel, wore a look from the brand’s Spring 2013 Couture collection.

Her white off-the-shoulder dress with a black lace overlay was styled with a red Chanel ‘Lego’ clutch, which has been a hit with celebrities since it was presented in the Spring 2013 ready-to-wear collection.

Chanel jewels and a matte red lip completed her look.

Does anyone else think that this would’ve been prettier as a gown?

Kristin Scott Thomas In Armani Privé - 'Only God Forgives' Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Electric-blue and embellishments??? Is Kristin Scott Thomas trying to give me a heart attack?

The British/French actress combined my two loves this evening on the red carpet for the ‘Only God Forgives’ premiere during Cannes Film Festival.

She took my breath away wearing an Armani long-sleeve gown with a plunging neckline and nipped in waist, which is high on shine and glamour. I’m not usually so enamoured with Kristin’s red carpet looks as they tend to stick to a colour palette of mostly black, but this made me sit up and pay attention.

Emerald jewels seem to be favoured by a lot of celebs this festival season; Kristin’s Chopard earrings and ring shone almost as brightly as her embellished gown.

Does anyone share my obsession with this look?

She carried a Swarovski clutch.

Irina Shayk, Alessandra Ambrosio & Liu Wen In Roberto Cavalli - ‘All Is Lost’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Despite competition from Raf Simons at Dior, Roberto Cavalli is the go-to designer for starlets and models this Cannes Film Festival.

Ranging from the sublime to the near naked, the Cavalli gowns always give us something to talk about. We saw six different Cavalli looks yesterday; here are three more from the ‘All is Lost’ premiere this evening:

Irina Shayk: Some might say this is a typical Cavalli gown; overtly sexy, sheer, embellished with cut out details. I would say that even for Cannes, there is just too much on display.

Alessandra Ambrosio: The Victoria’s Secret model opted for more coverage wearing a silver fully sequined long-sleeve gown with a degrade gold hemline and an open back styled with de Grisogono jewels.

Liu Wen: In total contrast to the first two looks, Liu Wen was the picture of elegance wearing a royal blue strapless Cavalli devore gown styled with Chopard jewels.

With some designers you can tell they design for one type of woman. Judging by these three looks, Cavalli designs for all types of women from the attention seeking to the shy retiring types.
