Ruth Negga Wore Saint Laurent To ‘La Vie D’Une Femme’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Ruth Negga joined fellow jury member Demi Moore for the La Vie D’Une Femme premiere during the Cannes Film Festival this evening.

Keeping the black lace theme going from the night before, the Irish actress wore Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello.

I know what you’re thinking. This is giving Zoë Kravitz energy, and it probably would have fully landed there without the peplum detail.

Personally, I think that element gives the look character and separates it from the sleek evening silhouettes we usually associate with Vaccarello. The layered tulle peplum brought texture and drama to the look, stopping the silhouette from feeling too predictable.

Some might argue that the peplum shortens someone who is already petite, but I actually think the long column skirt helps rebalance the proportions. If anything, the uninterrupted line of the skirt elongates her frame beautifully.

Ruth’s style is usually far more eclectic, so I’m admiring this code switch while still feeling like her personality comes through.
