Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Oscars menThe Oscars 2014 on Sunday (March 2), and the ensuing soirees, were a fashion feast for the senses, with high-wattage gowns swishing at every glam turn. But the men provided plenty of eye candy, as well, as they suited up in their sartorial best for the stylish super-event at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California followed by the Vanity Fair Oscar Party.

Matthew McConaughey: The ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ Best Actor winner not only delivered a compelling acceptance speech, he also was convincingly decked out in a Dolce & Gabbana suit, Louboutin shoes and Chopard cufflinks. Always surprising us with his wild-card jackets, this one was a crispy ivory number, which he handsomely sported with a black vest, white button-down, black trousers and bowtie.

Bradley Cooper: Looking ever so dapper in a black Tom Ford tuxedo, paired with a black bow tie and Chopard cufflinks, the ‘American Hustle’ star and Best Supporting Actor nominee wore a side of handsome scruff with his classic ensemble

Pharrell Williams: Well, he wasn’t wearing the colossal hat, but the ‘Happy’ singer and nominee still turned heads with his cutoffs. The custom head-to-toe Lanvin look featured a black wool shawl-collar, one-button tuxedo with matching shorts, a white tuxedo shirt with ivory pearl buttons, a black satin bowtie and dark gray hand-polished calfskin derbies (sans socks, natch).  Yay or nay?

AnneHathawayInGucciOscars2014

Anne Hathaway was a breath of fresh air at the 2014 Oscars on Sunday (March 2), held at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre.

The ‘Song One’ star and presenter for the evening looked fresh and modern in a design by Gucci.

The black silk crepe column gown featured a crystal embroidered detail on the bust and waist, which was one of the most eye-catch details of the evening. One of my favourite red carpet looks of the night, the halter neck and slim silhouette gown was a beautiful example of modern, edgy glamour.

Anne accessorized her gown with Gucci shoes and a black plexiglass clutch. To allow her minimalist look to shine, Anne smartly kept her jewels and makeup minimal.

Do you love Anne’s red carpet style as much as I do?

Best Dressed Of The Week - Lupita Nyong'o In Christian Dior Couture & Carina Lau In Ralph & Russo

Lupita Nyong’o was your best dressed this week for the Christian Dior Couture gown she wore to the BAFTAs.
As much as I loved the gown and the colour against her skin, there was – much like her SAG Awards Ralph Lauren cape gown – a feeling of déjà vu.

Even without the déjà vu, I would’ve still crowned Carina Lau my favourite in her Ralph & Russo Couture pink cocktail dress, which was far more enticing and original in design. My runner up was Suki, also in Ralph & Russo.

Who Wore Gucci Better Miroslava Duma or Zendaya Coleman

Fashion week darling Miroslava Duma attended a private screening of James Franco’s documentary film ‘The Director’ during Paris Couture Fashion Week last month.

She wore a Gucci Resort 2014 liquid-gold lamé jacket with a matching tunic and loose-fitting trousers that were way too long for her petit frame.

Zendaya Coleman wore the same look just two days later to the Friends ‘N’ Family 17th Annual Pre-Grammy Party.

Perhaps deciding the original pants were too long, she opted for jogger pants, styling her look with Gucci shades, John Hardy rings and gold Ruthie Davis sandals with a cream python Oroton ‘Odeion’ clutch.

Pant length aside, I prefer Zendaya’s overall styling of this look right down to her untucked tunic, so she wins for me.

Rita Ora In Gucci - The Weinstein Company's Post-BAFTA Party

Rita Ora attended The Weinstein Co. post-BAFTA party held at the Rosewood London on Sunday (February 16) in London.

The singer donned a Gucci Spring 2014 black chiffon halter gown with a plunging neckline enriched with pink-hued embroideries.

I’m not a fan of this look on Rita. She doesn’t quite have the height to pull off this dress; the lip, as on most occasions, doesn’t work; and she over-accessorized the look.

You may remember that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wore this to the LACMA Art + Film Gala last year.

The majority weren’t too crazy about it on the statuesque model, so I’m guessing that this look gets a resounding thumbs down on Rita.
