Get the Look: Kelsea Ballerini's ACM Awards Sultry Smoky Eye

Kelsea Ballerini graced the 2017 American Country Music Awards red carpet on Sunday (April 2) with a sexy smoky eye to balance out her sweet Monique Lhuillier frock. While she didn’t take home any awards that night, she definitely was a winner in our books for her pretty and playful look.

Celebrity makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan created Ballerini’s fresh face by first prepping the skin with Kate Somerville Goat Milk Moisturizing Cream and following up with the Kate Somerville Goat Milk De-Puffing Eye Balm. To make sure the eyes were extra hydrated, Deenihan applied Skyn Iceland’s Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels under the singer’s eyes for about ten minutes to hydrate and firm the eyes. To finish off the skin prep, the makeup artist applied Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield to prime the skin and control shine.

After Deenihan prepped the skin she applied Armani Power Fabric Foundation in shade 5.5 to Kelsea’s face and neck. “This foundation leaves the skin with the perfect amount of coverage and keeps the skin looking fresh all night – even with four look changes” explains the makeup artist, “I like to apply foundation with a damp beauty blender sponge for added moisture and a slightly dewy look.”

To start on the boldest part of the look, Deenihan framed the eye by defining the brows by slightly filling them in using Dior’s Diorshow Brow Styler Ultra-Fine Precision Brow Pencil in Universal Brown. Then to start the shadow, Deenihan used the matte chocolate brown shade from the Chanel Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in 268 Candeur Et Experience and covered the whole lid up to the crease and then smudged underneath the bottom lash line. Then to highlight the shadow to accentuate the eyes, the makeup artist used Avon’s mark. All Time Eye Hook Up Shadow in Sun Ray. According to Deenihan, “[adding] it to the inner corners of the eye really opens the eyes when the shimmer of the shadow hits the light.” To finish the eyes, she used a couple coats of mark. Lash Act Build and Define Mascara in black for an extra boost of drama and dimension.

To highlight Kelsea’s cheekbones, Deenihan used mark. Glowdacious Illuminating Powder in Amped up on the hollows of her cheeks and mark. Touch & Glow Shimmer Cream Cubes All Over Face Palettes on the high cheekbones for a radiant glow. To finish off the cheeks, she added a hint of La Prairie Cellular Radiance Cream Blush in Berry Glow, “I love this cream blush because it blends over powders seamlessly and really illuminates the skin” says Deenihan.

Finally, to finish off the look, Kelsey explains that the singer loves a natural lip so she used mark. All Butter Now Lip Treat in Bare All for a hint of color and long lasting moisture.
