Michelle Dockery In Oscar de la Renta – 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Michelle Dockery arrived at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 12) in Los Angeles remaining true to her signature style: simple silhouettes with fashion-forward details and textures.

The ‘Downton Abbey’ star chose an Oscar de la Renta Spring 2013 design. The actress looked beautiful in a silvery-gray gown flecked with golden details, which she kept stunningly simple in the world of accessories.

To keep the focus on the metallic gown Michelle allowed the strapless neckline to speak for itself sans jewels and added a neutral satin pump to punctuate the slight high-low hemline.

Rightfully so, Michelle kept her hair and makeup beautifully simple with a hint of a red lip.

Finally this dress is worn. Been waiting for this to hit the RC! She looks good.

Love it from the ankles up. I was expecting her to wow me, but for that she should’ve worn more interesting shoes.

Exactly. It always frustrates me when women miss the opportunity to wear great shoes with a high-low hemline. Otherwise I think she looks lovely-not spectacular, but nice. I kind of feel the need for a belt here, though.

I love this dress on Michelle. It looks Great and the styling is perfect.
I also get the feeling we are going to be seeing alot of rise and fall hemlines with three already worn on the red carpet.

just spotted another rise and fall on Sandy B during the NBC broadcast….gonna be a big trend tonight I think.

I am a fan of the dress, but I wish she would’ve played off the gold embellishment and put on some sexy strappy gold sandals.

this appears to be the same dress that Marie Chantal of Greece wore to Princess Madeline’s wedding festivities last summer.

Grey colour is rarely inspiring on the red carpet, this is no exception.

  7. Sarah January 13, 2014 at 00:19 #

Just exceptional! Breathtaking to be honest!

  8. Marybeth January 13, 2014 at 00:34 #

I love the way the look combines rich embellishment with understated color and styling.

Looks like poster board to me. Im an Oscar fan but this does not inspire me. Pretty hair and makeup.

Simple, but so lovely… Perfect head to toe! She’s my favorite so far!

  11. Nat January 13, 2014 at 00:48 #

OH MY GOD! That is my dream dress and I am super happy finally someone is wearing. LOVE IT!!

  12. Tracy January 13, 2014 at 00:58 #

Wish she’d worn the runway earrings too, but this dress looks like it was made just for her. Simply beautiful.

  13. Moxie January 13, 2014 at 01:33 #

    Stunning from the ankles up.

  14. AG January 13, 2014 at 01:36 #

Beautiful dress but the shoes let this down. Sandals would’ve been better.

  15. Alina January 13, 2014 at 05:32 #

Gorgeous! When has she become such a swan on the red carpet? I mean, she’s giving me Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron and Cate Blanchett vibes all in one.

  16. Aline January 13, 2014 at 06:14 #

Lovely lovely lovely choice for her.

  17. Fiona - Perth January 13, 2014 at 08:35 #

Again this looked better on tv as we could see the sparkles as she moved. I love this on her, she is giving very much English lady high fashion and doing it well.

  18. Dani January 13, 2014 at 09:29 #

Simply stunning! The fit and styling (shoes excepted) are perfect.

  19. Jess2 January 13, 2014 at 09:54 #

I think this may be Michelle’s best look ever. I adore this dress and the styling was very well done.

  20. Iva January 13, 2014 at 09:56 #

Apart from the shoes – she looks really good.

  21. Dean January 13, 2014 at 14:00 #

Very classy! I love the simple hair and make up.

As much as I think this is a really good look for her I can’t help to find it a tiny bit dull as well.

I love this dress and I am so happy to see it worn on the red carpet. The dress looks wonderful, but the shoes are rather plain for the occasion.

This is one of many examples of an unfortunate trend for red carpet fashions. I call it “nice dress…too bad about the shoes.”

Crown princess Marie-Chantal of Greece wore the same gorgeous dress at a party the evening before the wedding of princess Madeleine of Sweden and Chris O’Neill in Stockholm on June 8th 2013.

  25. Bailey October 21, 2014 at 17:18 #

I think her hair is too boring and simple for this dress, which she actually pulls off quite nice. I would have loved it more if she had a different hairstyle
