Eva Mendes has been M.I.A. on the red carpet and snuggling up to Ryan Gosling, damn her, but she made a return yesterday to help Vogue Eyewear launch their Spring/Summer Communications Campaign, held at Simon House in Beverly Hills, California.
The beautiful actress wore a Valentino Resort 2013 dress for the occasion.
With the sun finally out here in London, this dress has me excited for spring.
Her yellow and multi-pink floral macramé-lace and tulle dress with a defined waist, short sleeves and scalloped hemline was most bizarrely paired with burgundy velvet pumps.
It was bad enough that I wanted to take scissors to the neckline to open it out and cut-out that tulle panel, so the shoes are a bitter disappointment.
A cute pair of those popular Valentino ‘Rock Stud’ pumps or Valentino sandals would’ve been much better.
Signature smoky eyes, a heavy gold embellished clutch and statement earrings completed her look which I think would better suit Kiernan Shipka or Elle Fanning.
Are you as flummoxed by the shoes as I am?

The dress is horrible, and the styling is really bad ! What was she thinking when she chose the shoes ?!
Too sweet and childish for a grown woman. I’m not sure this shade of yellow suites her, and I wish she’s have her hair darker, as her current blond seems so overworked and unnatural.

The dress would be very, very pretty on a young girl — I don’t think FC would be reaching for her scissors if Ariel Winter or Kiernan Shipka were to wear it!

I so agree! Eva is a sophisticated and sexy woman. This is way too sweet and young for her. I do like the dress but I wouldn’t have chosen it for Eva. The shoes don’t belong here, but they are beautiful.
I feel like she always dresses overly girly and feminine. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but I think she’s naturally sexy and should sometimes embrace that aspect of her persona.

I love the dress on its own, but I don’t like anything about Eva’s look. Cutesy looks doesn’t suit her.
I think Eva’s problem is that she dresses against type too much. As everybody has pointed out this dress is too cupcake sweet, perfect for a rising child star. Eva is a sultry, grown woman. She needs to take her lead from old school sirens.

The dress is adorable, and would be on Elle Fanning, Kiernan Shipka, or Chloe Moretz. Eva, and her styling, are all wrong for it. Moreover, these pale shades of yellow and pink do not suit her rich complexion.

OMG, you are so right! At least a couple of Gomez looks that I liked in theory but not so much in reality would have been wonderful on Eva Mendes.
I like the dress but I agree that it isn’t necessarily the right dress for Eva. As much as I love the clutch I don’t think it works here and the shoes are just the worst choice.
