Jennifer Lopez pushed the limits of the 2013 Grammy Awards‘ tightened dress code, when she sizzled down the red carpet at California’s Staples Center on Sunday night.
She virtually wore only half of a gown with her Anthony Vaccarello Spring 2013 design; an asymmetrical wonder that exposed her entire (perfectly toned) right pin.
It was “a little shoulder and a little leg,” as JLo described it on the red carpet. But from where I was sitting, this was more like “a lot.”
That Angelina Jolie leg jut just won’t disappear.
While no one was paying attention to her accessories, she did increase the shine factor of the dress’s runway version with multiple rings and stacked bangles. More flash came with her sky-high, metallic-accented heels and a matching Jimmy Choo ‘Charlize’ clutch.
A high top knot, a bronze glow and dagger-shaped nails that were overlaid with gold leafing completed the look.

I understand that Grammy’s is the place for taking fashion risks, and trying on an edgier approach to your look. But I though being a diva that she is, J Lo would at least find something that suits her body type. I do not find this particular slit (or lack of skirt, rather) flattering on her. Not a fan of her hair either, but she did have great accessories.

Well, for what she’s trying to do, it certainly is a sleek look (though there’s an awful lot of skirt dragging on the ground). But I just can’t get past that leg. I know she’s a diva (and perfectly toned), but I don’t need to always be seeing so much of her. Awesome shoes, though.

It’s not working for me. It doesn’t suit her body type. This dress is more suited for a statuesque body type. Plus, this dress is not very fitted around her waist. Outfits with fitted waists flatter her most. I do like the accessories.

This is a little trashy honestly. JLo has done sexy and classy before and I know she can do it again, I just hope she does it soon.
You know, berate her all you want, but I honestly believe that Angelina was the only one who could pull the leg thing off without looking vulgar. It was ridiculous, yes, but in a good fun way.
But after that we have gotten all of these attempts at the Jolie Leg TM and they just look incredibly tacky and desperate.
This leg thing was horrid the 1st time Angelina wore it and it’s still horrid. Makes me want to just rip it off. Shoes are killer though!

As always, I find leg slits tacky. But this is REALLY trashy. She is leaving nothing to the imagination, and it’s just a really desperate and unfortunate look. I don’t like one thing about it, the top knot, the pose, the shoes–ANYTHING.

Geez, what’s with all the ‘trashy’ comments? She’s the last person I think is trashy. She’s a red carpet veteran and she’s always effortless, not “try hard”. This hate seems pathological. She doesn’t have a uniform style. She experiments bravely, wears every color under the rainbow, and has sported more hairstyles than any other celebrity I know. She gives us so much variety.

I agree 1000%. This is the only fashion blog where I see so much hate on J.Lo’s style selections. EVERY single thing she wears, the comments on here are ridiculous. But y’all will sit on this same blog & praise these other celebs that look a mess. I just don’t get it. J.Lo has been shutting it down for years & RARELY disappoints.

I don’t understand where the ‘trashy’ comments come from. This is absolutely Grammy appropriate and she is showing leg and shoulder but in a very classy way.
They are in fact the only two things that the dress actually have, besides that it would be your regular black long dress… Which is how I understand skin showing in a classy way should be done, so that it doesn’t seem too much.
I love this look, not the best dressed of the nite (Rihanna and Solange are my top two so far) but defo in my top 5.

If the slit didn’t go so high, this would have been a knockout but I really can’t stand the hip high slits. We know she has great legs, she wears body suits on stage so I don’t need minding. The styling is perfect but the slit is just too much.

I will never understand why they have a need to stick the leg out though. You can wear a slit gown and pose normally, too.
if you look at the construction of the dress you will notice that the leg is exposed….wheater she extendas the leg or not. It is constructed as a pant leg. She looks fabulous.

No, no, no. What is she thinking, wearing ankle-cuffed shoes? She’s not willowy to begin with, and this just shortens her legs even more. And that leg. Tacky, desperate, unflattering. At least Angelina knew what suited her.
The shoes are sexy but the dress is bit boring but try-hard at the same time even if her leg is amazing and she’s at the Grammys. That top knot seems too small.
Jennifer Lopez looked great. That dress was stunning. The only thing I did not like is the bun on the top of her head… looked bad, but the rest was great.
I really did not like this… at all. It’s not flattering on her body. To think that anything could go on Jlo’s amazing body… well this dress proves otherwise.
