Bringing a sense of spring to the red carpet, Lucy Liu combatted Los Angeles’ unusually chilly temperatures at the 2013 Golden Globes Awards on Sunday.
The beautiful actress floated down the carpet in a floral print Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2013 ball gown.
Lucy’s gown not only infuses a sense of natural elegance into the often quite formal carpet at the Globes, but also serves to highlight the petite actress’ tiny waist.
To accent her sweet frock, Lucy donned subtle earrings, and a single stunning green cocktail ring.
I love that Lucy opted for a more relaxed hairstyle, sporting a feminine fishtail braid over one shoulder rather than a fussy updo.
Lucy’s locks are perfectly suited for a trendy side braid, so the overall effect when paired with her princess-worthy gown is simply breathtaking.

This is so unexpected and I am loving the boldness of this look. It would not work anywhere else but the globes. She knock the house down!
Best dressed so far!!!!!
Yes!
Flawless beauty. Love, love, love.
OH MY JAW!!!!!!!!! I has droppppped!!!!! She looks amazingly beautiful and fun! That is such a gorgeous gown!!!
Absolutely ADORE (!!) this look on her, she is like a breath of fresh air, vibrant, playful, effortlessly elegant, and that enviable tiny waist (!!), this look is a bit more special and exciting, and her styling is absolutely impeccable. Love.
+1
Agree. I was completely blown by the perfection of this look. I absolutely L-O-V-E it and I wouldn’t change one single thing. Undoubtedly one of the best dressed.

So beautiful!
At first I was unsure about this one, but I think I’ve come down on the side of loving it, just because it was so very different from what everyone else was wearing. It reminds me of the impact Sarah Michelle Gellar’s gorgeous Monique Lhuillier gown had at last year’s Globes (which many people hated but I LOVED). It will probably be just as divisive on Best/Worst Dressed lists as well.
I think I just died a little. I am usually not a fan of puffy princessy gowns, but this is just…heavenly. Best Dressed for me so far.
+1 She looks absolutely stunning.
+2
I love the look, but some of these big princessy dresses on the likes of Lucy Liu, Julianne Hough, and Debra Messing feel a little like they’re trying to steal the spotlight from the nominees. Something about it feels tacky.
Dying. Best dressed.
Wow. Favorite look thus far.
Wow. Carolina Herrera impresses me again with color, fit, use of print, and ambassadress. First, the gorgeous off-the-shoulder circle-print dream worn by Camilla Belle. And now this beauty. Love.
Yes, Herrera had a great week. I love this look. The braid is something unexpected and looks amazing with the gown. One of the best of the night.
I adore this look! A very strong contender for best dressed at the Globes for me!
Fllawless~ so pretty!
Lovely, but I wish the background wasn’t grey.
I’m not a fan. All I can think of is “Be Our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast.
The dress looks like bad curtains or cheap china.
I keep thinking of that scene from the Sound of Music when Julie Andrews makes clothes from floral curtains.
I like the boldness but the pattern is *too* sofa for me.
Yep. Sofa pattern.
She’s lovely as always though.
Scarlet O’Hara feelings. Irk
Guess my comment was not approved? Anyhow. I thought this gown was so unexpected and I am loving this look.
Christine, I am going through the comments as fast as I can.
I have not deleted any. It’s possible it accidentally went to spam
Oh, sorry FC!!! You’re on a roll
STUNNING. I usually hate floral prints like this, but this entire look really works for me.
At least she’s doing something interesting and taking risks. This carpet is boring me so far.
This is a hard dress to wear, but Lucy wears it so well! It’s girly, yet age-appropriate and fashion-forward at the same time. Perfect!
Quite stunning! I love the whole look from the first moment I saw her on the red carpet.
I love it.. Everyone looked dull on the red carpet and I can always depend on Lucy to bring a stunning best dress worthy look.
She looks sensational!!
BDOTW!
Best dressed. Hands down.
Took the words right out of my mouth, dearie. Perfection.
LOVE!! I love how she didn’t go for the traditional bun, the plait makes the look carefree and pretty. I just love the gown too. Everything is perfect, BDOTW!
Best Dressed of the night¡¡
Its a gorgeous gown…i wish the length is shortened for her as its kinda overwhelming her petite frame. But the color and floral prints suit her though . I wish they had added the red upper portion onto this gown as its complimentary to her skin tone and make her look even more stunning.
SHe’s soooo cute! Might be my fav look so far
I recently saw this when looking through Carolina Herrera’s designs again. Lucy Liu does a fantastic job at pulling this of. The skirt might be a tad too long, but I’m not going to hold that against her!
Bow!
Lucy Lui was the most beautiful of all in that dress. On the models you would never know that dress could look so good. Lucy was made for that dress. Stunning
I really like this dress. Great job.
And she knows how to wear it
I am super impressed with Lucy. This look is refreshing, fun, ladylike, and classic. I love that she had the guts to wear it and the reserve to pair it with simple styling. This look is a joy to behold and one of the best of the night (if not the best)! Bravo Lucy!
She looks beautiful and I’m loving a bold print is on the carpet looking so fresh.
I’m vacillating over the side braid- it does give and easiness to the grand dress but an chignon bun would have been complementary to the theme.
Wow! I am almost speechless. She so easily wears this gorgeous gown. One of the best dressed for sure.
She pulls off a complicated (imo) dress. And I just loooooooooove that braid.
Love the makeup and the hair but I don’t like the dress.
Wow!! This is so unexpected from Lucy and I am LOVING it! This is definitely the best braid we have seen over the last week. Totally amazed!
<3 <3 <3
perfection. from head to toe.
the more I look at this, the more I love it. My Best dressed.
My best dressed of the night. FLAWLESS!
My favourite of the night, With Kristen Bell.
awesome:)
One of my favorites of the night for sure. I just love the femininity of this look on Lucy and how she always stays true to her style. Love the way she stands out with this patter too but in a classic ball gown silhouette. I love how she looks effortlessly (or atleast what appears to be) beautiful!
I thought this was the best dress of the evening. To those naysayers on Twitter, be bold . . .see things with fresh eyes.
It’s weird the way she seemed OTT compared to everyone else there. Perhaps this look is best saved for Cannes.
I don’t like busy floral prints, nor do I like (many) poofy dresses.
Lucy is very pretty, but I hate floral gowns.
Not likey!
at first I thought this was hideous and a definite worst dressed, but its growing on me. I think its the person thats wearing it thats bothering me more. This isnt very Lucy Liu, shes not fashiony enough so it looks odd on her.
So, so, pretty – Best Dressed to the max!
She looked perfect! Love the dress!!! (And I don’t like flowers!) The pockets rock!
Lucy Liu has the best dress of the 2013 Golden Globes, hands down.
#2 is Jennifer Lopez
#3 is Kelly Cuoco
#4 is Sienna Miller
#5 is Olivia Washington
What they have in common: femininity and originality without going over the top.
Amazing.BDOTY worthy. It is the only dress i still remember vividly from the awards season. It’s also a gown that needed presence and she nailed it. LOVE the pockets and hair.
