Jennifer Lawrence took the red carpet for the premiere of ‘The Silver Linings Playbook’ during the Toronto Film Festival yesterday.
The actress glided down the red carpet in a Christian Dior Fall 2012 Couture gown, our second Dior Couture look of this festival so far.
Her strapless gown with a full skirt and a moody, dark tri-colour print serves as proof that the young actress is switching things up on the red carpet already.
I don’t hate the look, but I don’t love it either. My first thought was Morticia Addams.
The look is so dark and gloomy, that it’s almost hard to believe this is the same girl who stunned in Prabal Gurung earlier this year.
Dior pointed-toe pumps, sleek straight raven locks, a dark lip berry lip colour and Tiffany & Co. jewels completed the look.
Love or loathe?

AHH, LOATHE! Not a fan of this at all. Jennifer can look so amazing and this look…is not that.
Also that hair!! *shudders*
I don’t love it or loathe. I think there’s some good in here, but overall it’s not her best look. I will say though that I saw some videos from her last night and everything looked much prettier when she was in motion.
It’s growing on me! Stuning.
me too +1
Same! I don’t want to love it, but it’s just happening. Plus, Jennifer Lawrence is amaze.
Fell in love @ first sight
Bradley is the only positive part of this look.
I really love thr dress, I just wish she had pulled her hair up – a messy bun, like the one she had with the Prabal dress, for instance.
One thing people can’t complain is that she’s a one note girl.
Not a one note girl, true. But this look is pretty gloomy and I instantly thought of funeral homes. I am not loving the darker hair color.
I think the dress would be stunning on her if she had her hair in a soft, wavy updo. Then it would be romantic and beautiful…the dress is cool but suffers from the harsh styling.
+1
I agree–I love the dress, but hate her hair
+1
love. she’s more than just the golden girl, apparently!
LOOOVVVEEE!!!!!!!!!! AMAZING
My reaction is the same – feels too gloomy, somber esp. with that sleek raven hair. The skirt could’ve been a tad shorter.
“Love or loathe?”
LOVE LOVE LOVE!
The thing is, I loathe this colection and, yet, much to my surprise, I really love the whole look.
I think she looks very beautiful and I love how her lipstick matches the dress.
For me, this look is one of Jennifer’s worst looks. I dislike it a lot.
I love me some goth glam, so its LOVE for me!
I think I would have liked it more with a different hairstyle, but I don’t hate it.
I love the dress, but the hair and makeup are problematic. She looks better with bangs and the dark lips are too harsh
I like the look but dislike the make up choice. If she had her lighter hair color it’ll probably be better, the look would be lighter.
I actually like this look, there is something so gothig and dramatic..the make up is a little bit too much for my taste but it’s something different for her and Dior, when I first saw this picture I thought this dress was made by Christopher Kane lol
+1
I totally agree about the Christopher Kane. It actually reminds me of the Kane dress Carey Mulligan wore to TIFF in 2010.
I like the dress but the length is so wrong. On a side note, she sure is wearing a lot of Dior lately. Is anyone thinking she might be the next Miss Dior?
No!
Wow. The wispy bangs are banished (yay!) J’adore the dress — the print, the colors and the silhouette. It’s after (U.S.) Labor Day, which is my unofficial end of summer, so I’m on board with the darker looks of fall. Her face looks incredible in the first pic, the berry lips are so lush. Kudos to her for breaking the cookie cutter. Love.
+1 Love, love, love-love, love
I saw this dress in Paris it is beautiful. Unfortunately she is too short to carry this off.
Too short? Jennifer is 5’9″! The dress either has to be longer or shorter.
I think if the hem sat at her ankles, like on the model, it would have been 100% perfect.
Really?
Well in any case the dress is too long on her and given that she wore the sample from the runway-it is too long on her.
Actually I like it, it’s a different and new look and from Jennifer
I absolutely love this dramatic look!! I also think that her hair fits perfectly
She’s the dark princess, I love the dress. She look bad ass.
OH! her stylist killed this look. think a few inches shorter (true to the original silhoute created by Raf Simons, think a bit more voluminous, messy bun hair or even a sleek halo bride and think a darker lipstick, not a berry hue and there you go!
My initial reaction was not so good, but now I actually love it. the dress is gorgeous and the shoes are a great choice. There is something very fragile and doll-like about her as well which I love
This is so goth prom couture.
And you picked a nice pic, FC, because her hair looks awful upclose. Extra sleek, extra greasy, just terrible.
i love the dress, i love Jennifer, but i’m not sure about them together.
and i love this Dior Couture collection, so it’s been great to see theses dresses on the red carpet so often. i can’t remember a couture collection that have been so worn on the red carpet like this one.
The lippie is on trend. I think if the dress were floor length it would have a more premiere feel to it. I wish she had put her hair off her neck and worn a necklace to match the bangle. The hair is drab without texture. Not a great look for me.
Love it!!
Given the type of movie she’s promoting, I think it works and it’s appropriate.
I’m kinda loving this…it’s odd but it works.
I agree that this look feels a bit too dark for Jennifer, but I must say it’s grown on me. The dress has stunning colours and by the other two looks she wore this week promoting Silver Linings Playbook I assume it’s a style selected for the movie.
I’m on the fence with this look. It’s not that good, but it’s not terrible, either. I think what bothers me most is the hair, it looks so limp. If she had opted for a different hairstyle with more volume, I think I would have liked it more.
Love, love, love
I love this – I know what some people dislike about the hair – I would prefer it up or softer, but it does look stunningly shiny. The dress is beautiful, as I scrolled down I was saying please let it be longer – I love the tea length. Shoes not my favourite but overall such a beautiful print and the makeup is perfect for her hair colour – she needs the depth.
She looks amazing to me.
I think it’s the length. If this were either knee or floor length this would be stunning. The tea length is just awkward.
We talk a lot about the appropriateness of a look for the event, and with that in mind, she couldn’t have chosen a more stunningly appropriate look for this movie, which has her play someone who is a bit off, who falls for someone just out of a mental institute.
The whole movie is brooding, yet playful, dark, but fun… I think Jennifer has a knack for choosing the dress for the specific role she played. I for one, LOVE this look!
LOVE it! perhaps not the hair but the rest LOVE it
Love the dress but maybe it’s more suited for someone else
I LOVE this look ! Its daring, different, chic, fearless, couture, sleek and a total trend setter. How can you all not love it?! Love love love ! I’m sick of neutral pallets and ruffles and chiffons.
This is a major look. She’s like a darker version of the model on the runway, and I love it.
Oh what happened to our Hunger Games beauty, Jennifer Lawrence shocks us with her blonde-turn-brunette hairstyle in this multi colour strapless gown by Christian Dior!! One word LOATHE!! can’t get over her hair and makeup and those uninspiring heels!! We miss the usual Jennifer, miss her so much!!
Love!
Love it! Love it all! Love the straight hair with the part. Love the dark lips. Love the gown (especially the unexpected flash of green) leading down to the classic shoes in the style of Mid- 20th Century Dior. I just love the drama of it all! I expect her to break into an aria.
Its odd and she takes a risk. I like it dont love it……yet. She looks better than the model though
Now it’s finally time to be honest: Raf’s first Dior couture collection was a miss.
God, this is awful!
LOVE IT! Just perfection! What a change from the Jennifer we used to see during The Winter’s Bone promotion (not that I didn’t like her then
)!
The problem is the hair. It is too dark and sleek for her. I really like the dress on her and her shoes go well.
this look has definitely grown on me, and the reason her hair is dark is because she’s set to film the next portion of the hunger games trilogy
love
I love this look. I love that she’s mixing things up a bit. I think she looks beautiful!
I love it. It brings something so different to the red carpet!
I really like her “different” look here. I don’t prefer it to her Hunger Games golden, sweeping, gorgeous gown, but she is still very young, just 22 and is experimenting with looks.
She’s like a chameleon though. I can’t get enough of her. She has a rocking beautiful body and looks great as a blonde or brunette. Brunette is my favorite-she’s got that mysterious face. The styling here is fun and goth I agree…I just like her more prettied-up in earth tones or vibrant gem ones!
