Alexa Chung In Marc Jacobs – 2012 Met Gala

Alexa Chung attended the 2012 Met Gala, as the guest of Marc Jacobs.

The British star wore a look from Marc Jacobs’ Fall 2012 collection.

Her leather and purple floral-print metallic off-the-shoulder dress was styled with a white shirt instead of the floral shirt presented on the runway.

I would’ve loved to have seen the look without the shirt, but the boyish shirt suits Alexa tomboy sense of style.

A black clutch and Tabitha Simmons ‘Alessandra’ lace-up heels completed her look.

I have to say I love the bouffant on this occasion. A very rare statement with regards to Alexa Chung.

I don’t say this often about Alexa, but I don’t hate this look. It is different and definitely more interesting that her usual looks, plus it seems she put an effort on this occasion. She finally did something different with her hair and the shoes are much better than what she usually wears.

I feel like the most awful person but there is nothing good about this look. I despise the shirt with the dress, the shoes are bad and I just don’t seem to like her hair, no matter how she wears it.

I like her from head to neck. Nice hair and make up, but the clothes and the shoes are so ugly.

This was such a zany look on the runway. In fact, the whole collection got people talking. Very few people would pull off the collection in reality, but Alexa did it! I love her look. She’s not a ball gown girl. The “complicated” dress and boyish shirt suited her. And the dress had such an odd length, but thank goodness, Alexa has endless chicken legs, so she can pull off dresses/skirts of any length.

In a group with Kristen Stewart and Christina Ricci. Nice shoes, though.

LOL, was just going to say that! Hey Alexa, thanks for making sure Kristen wasn’t the worst dressed of the night! How thoughtful of you!

Awful- how this woman can be considered a “fashionista” is beyond me.

  8. Dominique May 8, 2012 at 22:33 #

Oh no the shoes!!! But yea… not so sold on this…

  10. CC May 8, 2012 at 21:44 #

    just NO.

horrible look on the runway and on red carpet!

  11. Raquel May 8, 2012 at 20:55 #

No. It is NOT a Met look.

  12. MoxieSue May 8, 2012 at 20:10 #

Horrible. Worst dressed of the event and possibly the week.

  13. serenissima7 May 8, 2012 at 19:24 #

no, no no. the shirt completely ruined it.

  14. Rebecca Z May 8, 2012 at 18:28 #

    Just, ugh.

  15. Jones19 May 8, 2012 at 18:15 #

Ewwww this is the worst dressed of the night!

  16. Ayishaa May 8, 2012 at 17:58 #

Hi FC, tot you would say “Trust Alexa to wear a Designers dress and make it look like a trash bag”. As expected from her this outfit is HORRIBLE.

  17. Barbs May 8, 2012 at 17:49 #

Who are we kidding! She looks terrible! 10 years from now she will look at this outfit and say: “What was I thinking?!” Hopefully 😉

this is the first i’ve seen of this photo. they can’t be serious? they might as well laughed in the met gala’s face for putting out such ridiculousness on that carpet. distasteful to say the least.

I don’t understand this look at all and after today I think I disliked her even more. This whole messy tomboy look is not working and will never work so somebody get her a stylist please !! What an insult to the Met Gala !!

    So I guess you’re saving Rosie for last…For a lovely finish…

  21. LeeAnn May 8, 2012 at 17:14 #

Hideous but behind her is Rosie who was stunning

  22. Eimear May 8, 2012 at 17:13 #

Yeah this woulda been hotter without the shirt, but maybe not as “edgy Alexa” 😛

  23. Yeliz May 8, 2012 at 17:07 #

I don’t like this look BUT in any other occasion and without the white shirt only the dress itself would’ve been a dress to die for!

  24. Cerise May 8, 2012 at 17:06 #

    Hair and Make up…amazing.
I’d have loved to see the dress without the shirt as with it, it just makes me feel like it’s typical “too cool for school” Alexa.

I wish she’d once drop the indie style and just go for broke!

  25. Alina May 8, 2012 at 16:59 #

I don’t like it – feels too casual.

  26. Riley May 8, 2012 at 16:59 #

I like the dress to be shortened without the skirt and with a different clutch and shoes.

  27. firien May 8, 2012 at 16:57 #

    Hair and make-up: Yay!
I like the dress with the shirt, too, as you said – it suits her style.
The heels look like Irish step-dancing shoes…

I don’t actually hate this as much I was prepared to, I always brace myself when it comes to Alexa.

I’m secretly disappointed she didn’t wear the hat though. Or at least bring it along.
