Alexa Chung attended the 2012 Met Gala, as the guest of Marc Jacobs.
The British star wore a look from Marc Jacobs’ Fall 2012 collection.
Her leather and purple floral-print metallic off-the-shoulder dress was styled with a white shirt instead of the floral shirt presented on the runway.
I would’ve loved to have seen the look without the shirt, but the boyish shirt suits Alexa tomboy sense of style.
A black clutch and Tabitha Simmons ‘Alessandra’ lace-up heels completed her look.
I have to say I love the bouffant on this occasion. A very rare statement with regards to Alexa Chung.

I don’t actually hate this as much I was prepared to, I always brace myself when it comes to Alexa.
I’m secretly disappointed she didn’t wear the hat though. Or at least bring it along.
Hair and make-up: Yay!
I like the dress with the shirt, too, as you said – it suits her style.
The heels look like Irish step-dancing shoes…
I like the dress to be shortened without the skirt and with a different clutch and shoes.

I don’t understand this look at all and after today I think I disliked her even more. This whole messy tomboy look is not working and will never work so somebody get her a stylist please !! What an insult to the Met Gala !!
this is the first i’ve seen of this photo. they can’t be serious? they might as well laughed in the met gala’s face for putting out such ridiculousness on that carpet. distasteful to say the least.
Who are we kidding! She looks terrible! 10 years from now she will look at this outfit and say: “What was I thinking?!” Hopefully

This was such a zany look on the runway. In fact, the whole collection got people talking. Very few people would pull off the collection in reality, but Alexa did it! I love her look. She’s not a ball gown girl. The “complicated” dress and boyish shirt suited her. And the dress had such an odd length, but thank goodness, Alexa has endless chicken legs, so she can pull off dresses/skirts of any length.
I like her from head to neck. Nice hair and make up, but the clothes and the shoes are so ugly.
Unfortunate
I feel like the most awful person but there is nothing good about this look. I despise the shirt with the dress, the shoes are bad and I just don’t seem to like her hair, no matter how she wears it.
I don’t say this often about Alexa, but I don’t hate this look. It is different and definitely more interesting that her usual looks, plus it seems she put an effort on this occasion. She finally did something different with her hair and the shoes are much better than what she usually wears.
