Octavia Spencer In Brandon Maxwell – 2018 Oscars

Octavia Spencer attended the 2018 Oscars in Los Angeles on Sunday (March 4) along with a host of her peers.

The actress wore a custom Brandon Maxwell gown with coordinating emerald jewels.

This color is such perfection on Octavia that I may just start a petition for her to never wear anything but emerald green again! I also simply love the way the pleated necklace lays to create slightly asymmetrical sleeves.

A perfect wavy bob and smokey eye and of course, Octavia’s radiant smile, complete the look.

2018 BAFTA Awards Red Carpet Roundup

Black gowns dominated the 2018 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 18) at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England, but the red carpet was by no means boring with celebrities showing their support for the Time’s Up movement in a wide array of striking looks.

Letitia Wright: Showing a darker side of Gucci, the ‘Black Panther’ actress, who was one of the presenters on the night, looks charming in a belted dress. The bug-like embroidery perks up the black velvet base. Some have remarked how the brands looks sometimes suffer from too many details, but this one has the balance right.

Sally Hawkins: The Best Actress in a Leading Role nominee for ‘The Shape of Water’, shone in a Ralph & Russo gown. This is a more sensual look for her with the slashes in the bodice revealing a coquettish hint of skin. I wish she played into the theme more with romantic wavy hair.

Anya Taylor-Joy: Last year’s Rising Star Award nominee embraced the sexy glamour of Dolce & Gabbana in a black lace dress and golden crown. I can already hear the chants of people wishing the skirt was lined, and I must agree.

EE British Academy Film Awards Nominees Party Red Carpet Roundup

There was no shortage of exciting looks at the EE British Academy Film Awards nominees party at Kensington Palace on Saturday (February 17) in London, England.

Karen Gillan: The ‘Doctor Who’ actress shimmered in a Temperley London gown. Despite the all-black colour palette, this feels like a few different dresses in one look. It’s too bad that the tulle skirt gives the appearance of weighing down the top part.

Allison Janney: The Best Actress in a Supporting Role nominee ditched the gown in favour of an August Getty trench dress. The gray number had a marvelous lengthening effect which showcased her statuesque beauty. It was beautifully cut and as sophisticated as any dress. If I must find fault, I wish the sleeves were shortened to eliminate the bunching. Nine West shoes, a Judith Leiber clutch and Maxior tourmeline earrings added more pizzazz.

Kristin Scott Thomas: Another Best Actress in a Supporting Role nominee, the beauty turned heads in a Valentino dress. The dragon-inspired design nods to Chinese New Year and projects a joyful opulence. The style hails from the same Pre-Fall 2018 collection as Greta Gerwig’s gown.

2018 Critics’ Choice Awards Red Carpet Roundup

Following the 2018 Golden Globes black dress code, the 2018 Critics’ Choice Awards on Thursday (January 11) showcased a range of colours, styles and designers.

Reese Witherspoon: The actress’s most memorable looks often have bold colours, so I was surprised she opted for a black Prada dress. That being said, I thought the short length really worked for her, with the embellishment adding some vicariousness. The Roger Vivier shoes enhanced the playful mood.

Emma Roberts: Her choppy blonde fringe was certainly a talking point, but the elegant simplicity of her Giorgio Armani gown didn’t go unnoticed. The strapless column fit perfectly. She styled it in a very modern way with the gold-toned accessories and by leaving the neckline bare.

Emilia Clarke: Like Reese, the ‘Game of Thrones’ star opted for a shorter black dress. She wore a Dolce & Gabbana frock with Gianvito Rossi sandals. I would have loved to see the look completed with a red lip as it would have added some warmth while playing up the brand’s Italian film star aesthetic.

Octavia Spencer In Tadashi Shoji – 2018 Golden Globe Awards

Octavia Spencer and designer Tadashi Shoji continued to be a dynamic red-carpet duo at the 2018 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 7) in Beverly Hills, California.

The actress’s favoured label constructed a custom piece for the occasion—and it shone brightly indeed.

The all-over sequin embellishment brought glittering dimensionality to the all-black look.

But, it was the flash of her bright turquoise earrings that I really loved, adding a bit of colourful radiance to this frock.

Jimmy Choo ‘Vexil’ sandals and Irene Neuwirth jewelry rounded out the look.

2018 AFI Awards Red Carpet Roundup

More stars were in the mix at the 2018 AFI Awards on Friday (January 5) in LA, in addition to Emilia Clarke, Saoirse Ronan, and Allison Williams.

Reese Witherspoon: This little red dress may have been right up Reese’s alley, and nothing all that groundbreaking, but it was a chic addition to the style lineup. I like the twisted, ruched details to further flatter the figure. Christian Louboutin ‘Corneille’ nude pumps rounded out the look.

Greta Gerwig: I cannot fully get aboard the piece-y nature of this Burberry dress, what with the embroidered lavender overlay, the uneven hem, and the wide, dropped waistband. The dark pumps didn’t help the dress’s cause, either.

Issa Rae: Issa was nothing but a ray of sunshine in this happy-chic Calvin Klein bias-cut frock topped off with metallic sandals and a Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch.
