2019 Golden Globe Awards Menswear Roundup

2019 Golden Globe Awards Menswear Roundup2

There were plenty of menfolk on the red carpet at the 2019 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 6) in Beverly Hills, California, and I was delighted by the diversity of looks they offered up.

Ben Whishaw: Nominated for ‘A Very English Scandal,’ the actor was looking very fine in his Alexander McQueen embroidered suit styled so crisply with the dress shirt that you didn’t even miss the tie.

Stephan James: The ‘Homecoming’ star and nominee couldn’t have looked more dapper if he tried in this impeccably tailored Ralph Lauren Purple Label velvet suit styled supremely well with a Swarovski Odysseia pendant, Chopard timepiece, cufflinks and Christian Louboutin ‘Alpha Male’ toe-cap loafers.

Luke Evans: Also wearing an Alexander McQueen ensemble, Luke went for a slightly more traditional mood in his formal white dinner jacket with black lapels.

2019 AFI Awards Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

We won’t forget the fellas who joined a host of ladies at the 2019 AFI Awards this afternoon (January 4) in California.

Bradley Cooper: Am I the only one who desperately wants to undo that button? This wool Isaia suit was the better of his two looks this past 24 hours – which he styled with velvet Christian Louboutin ‘Greggo Orlato’ shoes – but if he was going to button up, he should’ve lost the vest, because the as look as presented feels really bulky.

Mahershala Ali: Could Mahershala look any cooler? His Christian Louboutin ‘Alpha Male’ lace less dress shoe set this off right.

Stephan James: Do not adjust your screens. This is a rare moment of Stephan James wearing black. The ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’ actor was decked out in a three-piece Etro suit which mixed classic tailoring with a contemporary cut. I will give him a pass on going sans socks, as he was rocking a swaggy pair of Christian Louboutin ‘Dandelion’ patent and printed loafers. Chopard’s L.U.C Perpetual Twin timepiece completed his look.

2019 Palm Springs International Film Festival Gala Menswear Roundup

Fashion Blogger Catherine Kallon features 2019 Palm Springs International Film Festival Gala Menswear

Emily Blunt, Regina King and Emma Stone were joined on the red carpet for the 2019 Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards Gala on Thursday (January 3) in California, by several guys in dapper suits.

Mahershala Ali: The Golden Globe nominated ‘Green Book’ actor tends to do black-on-black a lot. But you won’t hear me complaining when he looks this good. The ombre shoes ensure the look wasn’t too one note.

Timothee Chalamet: Your best dressed man of 2018 wore a Thom Browne suit. The designer is known to push the boundaries of classic men’s fashion with every new collection.  This particular suit skillfully demonstrates Thom Browne’s meticulous craftsmanship. With the crop of the trousers, Timothee was wise to opt for Berluti’s ‘Eris Bergen’ tall leather boots.

Rami Malek: Winner of the Breakthrough Performance Award for the Queen biopic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, the actor – who was once the face of Dior Men – opted for Givenchy. I love how the crisp stripes in contrasting tones, adds a contemporary touch to this slim fit suit. Bow ties usually give a look a formal touch, but it feels quite playful here.

From premieres and screenings, to the CMA Awards and other showings, the men have been making handsome entrances over the past few days.

Sebastian Stan: At the ‘Destroyer’ screening on Tuesday (November 5) during AFI FEST 2018, Sebastian joined Nicole Kidman and wore this Tom Ford ‘Prince of Whales’ peak-lapel ‘Atticus’ suit styled with Chelsea boots. I think brown can sometimes look drab on the red carpet, but definitely not so here. The tonal colours and subtle patterning — not to mention the precise fit — worked wonders.

Noah Schnapp: How can you not smile at this ‘Stranger Things’ cutie in his Scotch & Soda striped suit and white sneakers at the 2018 CMA Awards on Wednesday (November 14).

Michael B. Jordan: At the ‘Creed II’ New York premiere on Wednesday (November 14), the actor wore all black in this Givenchy suit. But, it’s far from boring, as he always seems to bring so much charisma and dimension to his looks no matter what.

We couldn’t let the week go by without checking on these leading men..starting with Eddie Redmayne.

Eddie Redmayne: The British actor is the only person, excluding Tom Hiddleston, who can make me consistently swoon upon sight of him in a luxe Polo Ralph Lauren velvet tuxedo. He was by far the best dressed at the 2019 Breakthrough Prize Ceremony, despite him stating that his 8-month son isn’t allowing him time to get much sleep.

Jared Leto: We expected Jared Leto to attend the 2018 LACMA Art + Film Gala, but did we expect this white satin lapel Gucci suit with a matching hat? No, I actually expected more colour from him, so this served as quite a surprise. I have moments when I love this and moments when I want him to remove that hat.

Timothée Chalamet: At the Hollywood Film Awards the young actor wore a sharply tailored Louis Vuitton suit, but I was more intrigued by the embellished shirt, and thankful for shoes over sneakers.

It’s time to check in on those men that have been out and about at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival over the past few days.

Robert Pattinson: At the ‘High Life’ premiere, Robert wore a Dior Men by Kim Jones Spring 2019 three-piece suit that had quite the dandy demeanor, especially with the floral dress shirt.

Kit Harington: Looking quite formal, Kit was polished in a Givenchy tuxedo at the ‘The Death and Life of John F. Donovan’ premiere.

Mahershala Ali: Sometimes we roll our eyes at sunglasses on the red carpet, but on this occasion, his Jimmy Choo shades really added some fun, quirky edge to this Ermenegildo Zegna Couture cropped suit at the ‘Green Book’ premiere. That teal pocket square did, too.
