I was very excited about this menswear roundup because of the diverse colours, patterns and fabrics, and how this is swiftly becoming the norm.
J.R. Ramirez: The ‘Manifest’ actor attended a press junket during SCAD aTVfest wearing a maroon Greyscale suit. Sleek tailoring in sophisticated plaid, I love not only the air of nostalgia and cashmere turtleneck, but also the choice of shoe. Often when guys dare to step outside the navy, black box, shoes grind the look to a halt, but that wasn’t the case with J.R.’s tan loafers.
Mahershala Ali: Back promoting ‘True Detective’, the actor proves once again why it’s likely to be a three horse race with him, Stephan James and Timothée Chalamet for Best Dressed Man of 2019. The colour of the marigold suit is divine, but I’m also swept away by the crease free nature of the fabric. Could this look have lived without the blue pocket square?
Jake Gyllenhaal: Now, I love that Jake did something different in this Dries van Noten Spring 2019 wave print suit, but I’m not so crazy about the execution. I’m pretty sure this is as a result of seeing Mahershala crisp white t-shirt. Jake’s feels grubby in comparison.
