Ayo Edebiri’s Chanel Couture Look Has a Surprise From Every Angle
Ayo Edebiri attended the Clarissa premiere during the 2026 BFI London Film Festival alongside her co-star Sophie Okonedo.

The actress was, of course, wearing Chanel, selecting a look from the Spring 2026 Haute Couture collection. If you’re anything like me, you’re a little disappointed that the necklace we saw on the runway wasn’t actually embroidered onto the top, but there’s still plenty to admire here.
The ivory sleeveless top initially appears quite simple with tiered fringe. And just when you think you’ve seen everything, Ayo turns to the side to reveal an exaggerated bustle-like flourish that evokes the decorative volume of Victorian dress, reimagined through layers of feather-like fringe. It’s an unexpected contrast against the straight black skirt, and one that makes the look considerably more interesting.

There are also the jewelled buttons running down the back, a detail you could easily miss when the bustle is competing for your attention. I love how the clean lines of the bodice give way to all that texture, while the black pencil skirt keeps the proportions balanced.
The styling deserves some appreciation, too. The Chanel red drop earrings with green accents introduce an unexpected touch of colour.
What I enjoy most about Ayo’s style is her range. She can do quirky, she can do sophisticated, and here she manages to combine both.
