Amal Clooney’s Golden Gucci Moment at the 2026 Albies
George and Amal Clooney hosted the 2026 Albies at London’s Natural History Museum, celebrating individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary courage in the pursuit of justice around the world.
Presented by the Clooney Foundation for Justice, this year’s honourees included Kyrgyz journalists Bolot Temirov and Makhabat Tazhibek Kyzy, Malawian girls’ rights advocate Vanessa Mwangala, American photojournalist Lynsey Addario, Congolese organisation Justice Plus, and Brad Smith, Microsoft’s Vice Chair and President, recognised for his human rights advocacy.
Amal Clooney has given us some breathtaking fashion moments at this event over the years, and her custom Gucci gown deserves a place among them.
I may not be the biggest fan of Demna’s latest Gucci collection, but I certainly can’t fault his custom gowns, especially when the result is as beautiful as this.
The dégradé gold sequins transition from a brighter metallic finish at the bodice and hips to softer gold tones towards the hem. The exaggerated hips create a beautiful hourglass silhouette, while the off-the-shoulder neckline adds a romantic touch. I especially love how the embellishment follows the contours of the dress before falling into delicate fringe from the hips down, catching the light with every step.
Her softly waved hair, luminous makeup and sparkling Cartier drop earrings were equally beautiful.
As much as I’m in awe of this look, it only reinforces why I will always be a sandals-over-pumps kind of girl when it comes to certain red carpet gowns. The pointed gold pumps aren’t terrible, but a delicate pair of gold sandals would have been my preference, especially with a dress this glamorous. I’m also not entirely sold on the white-and-gold clutch. I think a solid gold clutch would have been a better choice.
George Clooney also wore Gucci, opting for a classic black. Together, they made a particularly stylish pair on a night dedicated to a cause that means so much to them.
