Mikey Madison’s Take on Sheer Dressing
Following the Paris premiere, Mikey Madison attended the New York premiere of The Social Reckoning on Sunday.

Let me just say off the bat that she is having a great press tour. Mikey was still a relative unknown during the Anora press tour, and even though she was wearing labels such as Chanel, it felt as though she was still figuring out what worked for her on the red carpet.
This tour is telling us a lot more. She’s not afraid of bold colour, as we might once have assumed; she can tap into a smouldering, old-school glamour; she can go contemporary in Standing Ground; and Dior will custom-make a look for her by adapting a runway design to suit her style sensibilities, instead of shoehorning her into the original look.
And then we have this Vivienne Westwood gown.
I often – nearly always – say that I will never grow tired of seeing Vivienne Westwood gowns on the red carpet, and this is another example of why.
There is an inherent confidence and sensuality to the Westwood silhouette that works beautifully for Mikey, but what really interests me here is that this doesn’t feel like another variation of a gown we have already seen countless times.

There is still that unmistakable sculpting through the bodice and hips, but the transparency changes the character of the gown, while the intricate beading gives it a more glamorous finish. Some will argue that the sheerness puts this firmly in naked-dress territory, but for me, the corsetry and embellishment give the look enough substance to set it apart from the usual barely-there approach.
It also continues what I’m enjoying most about Mikey’s press tour: there isn’t one prescribed version of her being repeated from premiere to premiere. We’re getting different designers and different moods, yet the clothes feel connected to her.

The look was styled with Tiffany & Co. jewellery, including a Bird on a Rock by Tiffany & Co. Feathers necklace and Bird earrings, plus a Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany & Co. Ribbon ring featuring a rubellite of more than four carats.
