Tiffany & Co. Brings Fashion and Jean Schlumberger’s Legacy Together in Paris

Tiffany & Co. celebrated the start of a new four-year partnership with the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, dedicated to preserving the creative legacy of legendary designer Jean Schlumberger. The partnership will support the inventory, conservation, restoration and digitisation of more than 5,000 original drawings and 5,000 archival documents relating to his work.

To mark the occasion, Tiffany & Co. presented I Am Only a Pencil before hosting an intimate dinner in the museum’s Christine and Stephen A. Schwarzman Fashion Galleries, where the guest list brought together several different approaches to evening dressing.

Pannier Perspective

Diane Kruger instantly caught my attention in Erdem Resort 2027, as her dress featured the designer’s new silhouette, inspired by archival 1920s shapes and exaggerated pannier-inspired constructions in the skirt. We just saw Florence Pugh wearing a similar version from the same collection, and I don’t think either of Diane’s pictures does this dress justice. Against the dark backdrop, much of the volume disappears, while the seated picture gives us no real sense of the architecture of the skirt.

Her Bird on a Rock by Tiffany & Co. brooch, featuring a kunzite of over 33 carats, was placed front and centre on her velvet choker, which was a clever choice. The choker feels entirely at home with the 1920s references of the dress, while also giving the Schlumberger piece the prominence it deserved.

Tailoring After Dark

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is firmly in her Saint Laurent chapter, and no doubt we’ll see her front row at the show later this evening. For this event, however, the focus was tailoring.

The elongated double-breasted jacket and wide-leg trousers create a long, lean line and a clean profile. I also like that she resisted adding a shirt or top underneath; the open neckline gives her Tiffany & Co. necklace exactly the space it deserves.

Silver Screen

I did wonder whether Anya Taylor-Joy was giving us a preview of Dior Spring 2027, but having just watched the show, that isn’t the case, as she was wearing McQueen.

I personally love Anya in bolder hues, so I wasn’t immediately sold on this silver strapless gown. However, the crinkled finish and sheer lace panel keep it from becoming another straightforward metallic gown. Her Bird on a Rock by Tiffany & Co. necklace, featuring over 14 total carats of diamonds and rubies, was perfectly placed against the strapless neckline.

Understated By Design

Greta Lee wearing Jil Sander this understated almost feels unexpected in itself. This isn’t the Greta who usually has me studying every detail, but for a jewellery-focused dinner, I understand the decision to pull things back, particularly when she was wearing a Bird on a Rock by Tiffany & Co. Wings pavé necklace in platinum with diamonds.

Let The Diamonds Lead

We often say let the jewels do the talking, and that was definitely the case for Amanda Seyfried, whose simple black column dress provided the perfect canvas for her Bird on a Rock by Tiffany & Co. Wings pavé necklace in platinum with diamonds.

There really wasn’t a need to complicate this. The dress knew its role.

Too Much Leather

Cynthia Erivo had a similar idea in Khaite, keeping the palette dark and allowing her Bird on a Rock by Tiffany & Co. Wings necklace in gold and platinum with pavé diamonds to register, but the proportions of this leather look overwhelm her.

The oversized jacket is where I struggle most. Between the dropped shoulders, extra-long sleeves and boxy shape, there is simply too much jacket for Cynthia. The long leather skirt underneath only adds to the weight of the look.

Black With A Twist

Adria Arjona wore a black Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini dress that takes a familiar off-the-shoulder silhouette and gives it a subtle asymmetry across the neckline.

I like this on Adria. It has enough shape to distinguish it from the other black dresses at the dinner, while leaving plenty of room for her Bird on a Rock by Tiffany & Co. Wings necklace in gold and platinum with pavé diamonds to register.

The D Buckle Returns

Camille Cottin, of course, was dressed in Dior. You didn’t love the D buckle detail when it appeared at the neckline of Charlize Theron’s dress, but does it make more sense as a belt?

I think it does. Here, it has a purpose within the tailoring, cinching the jacket, breaking up the black and giving your eye somewhere to land. This feels like a far more natural home for the detail. Do you agree?

Satin Simplicity

Chase Sui Wonders kept things simple in a black satin Sportmax Fall 2026 dress. I think this side pose was necessary to appreciate the cut-out, as I’m not sure the dress and its draping would register as well from the front.

Her Bird on a Rock by Tiffany & Co. Wings pavé necklace in platinum with diamonds was an ideal choice for the otherwise pared-back look.

Alaïa Influence?

Léna Mahfouf wore the REVOLVE LOS ANGELES Elettra maxi dress, and it’s difficult not to see an Alaïa influence in the white cut-out design. It’s a comparison that feels particularly relevant for Lena, who is already familiar with the Alaïa aesthetic, having worn the label several times, especially during Cannes Film Festival.

The white provided a welcome break from the amount of black at this dinner, while her Bird on a Rock by Tiffany & Co. Wings pavé necklace in platinum with diamonds had no competition from the neckline.

Lavender Interlude

Alison Oliver opted for a lavender column dress, offering another welcome change of colour.

The square neckline and clean line keep things simple, with the soft shade doing most of the work. It’s not the most memorable look of the evening, but after so much black, I appreciated seeing something lighter. Her Bird on a Rock by Tiffany & Co. Wings necklace in gold and platinum with pavé diamonds was an easy fit with the simplicity of the dress.
