Maisie Williams Channels Sandra Bullock for ‘Practical Magic 2’

If you loved the statement from Sandra Bullock and the glamour from Nicole Kidman, but wanted something a little darker, Maisie Williams had you covered. After setting the tone with her archive Gucci look at BBC Radio Studios earlier in the day, she continued that mood for the Practical Magic 2 London premiere.

The actress wore a custom Ellie Misner dress inspired by Sandra Bullock’s red carpet look from the 1999 Los Angeles premiere of ‘Forces of Nature.’

You might be wondering why Maisie didn’t reference the black look Sandra wore to the original 1998 Practical Magic premiere. But that black satin Dolce & Gabbana dress is a silhouette we’ve seen countless times since and recreating it would have been the obvious choice.

The spider sandals were an interesting choice. Remember when I said that method/thematic dressing has been going on for a long time? Sandra was already doing it back in 1998. But I digress.

Choosing a look from Sandra’s own red carpet history and reworking it to suit Maisie’s individual style is far more interesting. The deep oxblood colour, fitted sleeveless bodice and draped satin skirt retain the spirit of Sandra’s original while feeling entirely at home on Maisie.

And the colour is stunning on her. Maisie styled the look with a breathtaking Bvlgari High Jewelry necklace featuring a complementary ruby centre stone, which couldn’t have been better suited to the rich red tones of the dress.

I knew Maisie was going to be one of the standouts on this red carpet, and I’m glad she proved me right.
