Nicole Kidman’s Shimmering Chanel Moment for Practical Magic 2

Nicole Kidman joined her original co-star Sandra Bullock on the red carpet for the Practical Magic 2 London premiere this evening, reprising her role as Gillian Owens, almost three decades after the pair first played the Owens sisters.

The actress wore a custom Chanel celadon-green bustier dress entirely embroidered with sequins and embellished with a cascade of intertwined chains and pearls.

Considering the film, I was half expecting Nicole to embrace a black, witchy mood for the premiere, so I’m glad she took us somewhere completely different. The celadon green feels fresh and unexpected, while the sequins, pearls and cascading chains still deliver the glamour I wanted from her.

The look was styled with gold Chanel sandals. My preference would have been silver to complement the cooler tones of the dress, but the gold does connect with her Chanel High Jewelry earrings in 18K yellow gold, diamonds and beryls.

I know some will have an issue with the thigh-high slit, but I can take or leave it. We are used to seeing Nicole in long, streamlined silhouettes, so I appreciate seeing her switch things up here.

My only issue is the hair. This stunning woman deserved a better hairstyle. I know what, and I know why. I also know that it can and should look better.
