Andrew Garfield Debuts IWC Ingenieur Pool Dial At Wimbledon

When Andrew Garfield stepped out for the Wimbledon Championships on Saturday, I was so busy focusing on his one-year anniversary appearance with girlfriend Monica Barbaro that I almost overlooked the watch on his wrist and his longer hairstyle, which is giving ’70s leading man.

Channelling his inner Princess of Wales, the British actor went full matchy-matchy, pairing his baby-blue Ralph Lauren suit with IWC Schaffhausen’s new Ingenieur Automatic 35 in Pool.

The Ingenieur is one of IWC’s most recognisable watches, originally designed for engineers before evolving into one of the brand’s signature luxury sports models. Its Gérald Genta-designed silhouette and integrated bracelet have made it a favourite among collectors for decades.

What makes Andrew’s choice especially noteworthy is that he is the first to wear the brand new Automatic 35mm with the Pool dial.

The fresh turquoise-blue shade, which gives unmistakable Tiffany-blue vibes, adds a lighter, more playful feel to the Ingenieur’s signature grid-pattern dial, making it the perfect complement to his soft blue tailoring.

The other point of interest is the size. At 35mm, it leans into classic vintage proportions, offering a more refined alternative to the 40mm version that has become the standard choice for many men’s watches.

As more men move away from oversized watches, Andrew’s choice feels well timed (pardon the pun). Could the 35mm watch be the next menswear trend?
