Tilda Swinton Wore Chanel To The Cannes Film Festival Closing Ceremony
I was surprised by how many of you weren’t into Tilda Swinton’s icy blue Chanel look for La Bola Negra premiere, so I’m wondering if this Cannes Film Festival closing ceremony appearance might mark a redemption of sorts.

For the occasion, Tilda returned to Chanel wearing a striking red look from the Fall 2026 collection, that sits comfortably within her glamour remit. While Tilda often thrives in austere tailoring, sculptural volume, or quietly offbeat silhouettes, there is something about a fluid, elongated gown like this that allows her elegance to land with greater immediacy on the red carpet. The saturated red alone gave the look presence, while the softly pleated draping softened the otherworldly edge that can sometimes define her style choices.
What immediately caught my attention was how intriguingly familiar the silhouette felt. The cocoon-like shape, fluid pleating, and elongated proportions echoed the Ferragamo Fall 2026 dress Natasha Poly wore at Cannes the previous week. Both looks leaned into a softly enveloping silhouette, though Tilda’s Chanel interpretation felt more regal and quietly dramatic.

The styling reinforced the glamour. A Cartier Honeymoon reversible necklace and rings, while another complementary pair of Chanel dual-colour pumps in red and white tied neatly into the overall palette. After the mixed response to her earlier Chanel outing, I suspect this one may land more favourably.
