The Australian actress once again demonstrated her enduring relationship with fashion that challenges convention, arriving in a striking suit from the Maison Margiela Artisanal 2025 collection, a look that captures both the house’s conceptual language and her fearless red carpet instincts.

The foundation of the outfit is a sharply tailored black suit, but the real talking point is the sculptural polka dot silk element twisted and knotted across the chest. Draped somewhere between a scarf and a cape, it transforms what could have been straightforward tailoring into something far more intriguing. Thankfully, the styling stopped short of including the mask that accompanied the runway version, a signature flourish of the house’s more avant garde experimentation.

This might not be as radical as the first look she wore from Glenn Martens’ debut Artisanal collection, but the design still highlights the deconstruction, transformation and intellectual tailoring that define Margiela’s approach.

In Maison Margiela’s conceptual world, Cate Blanchett continues to find a natural home.
