2025 LACMA Art+Film Gala: Menswear Edition
This week has been a whirlwind of events, but the menswear at the 2025 LACMA Art+Film Gala deserved a standalone moment. The guys really showed up — velvet, tailoring, flares, brooches, undone elegance — there was personality, experimentation and a welcome reminder that menswear is not to be ignored.
Soft Velvet Fantasy
Alton Mason wearing a brown Gucci velvet suit? I may never recover. Velvet suit, shirt and skin? What a stunning combination.
Velvet Persuasion
If you’re not into the GG monograms, Charlie Hunnam in his plush velvet Gucci shirt might bring you around. There’s a louche, late-night lounge energy that suits him beautifully.
Refined With Flair
Chris Perfetti dialled back the experimental silhouettes, but not the personality. A Brooks Brothers suit, styled with a sheer lavalier shirt and jewellery from Saidian Vintage Jewels and Beladora Jewelry. Classic base + considered styling = perfect balance.
Retro Romance Continues
Damson Idris rocked a steel blue Prada flared suit which he accessorised with the same DIDRIS brooch he wore to the Met Gala, which only amplified the retro flair of his look. The British actor never misses a beat when it comes to promoting his jewellery line.
Undone elegance
Gunner Shepardson a.k.a. Nettspend served pure “end of the night, still the best-dressed in the car queue” energy in Gucci — the undone elegance is the point.
Classic Perfection
Nnamdi Asomugha, alongside wife Kerry Washington, was one of the best dressed of the night. A Canali tux, beautifully fitted, nothing extra needed.
The honouree glow
Ryan Coogler, the evening’s honouree, wore classic Gucci tux. Zinzi Coogler in a raspberry Gucci gown ensured they were impossible to miss — a perfect couple moment.
Easy Cool
Steve Lacy will always be one of my faves; I just wish we could see more of his style on the red carpet, especially considering the void that I feel is being left by Lakeith Stanfield. The singer wore a Gucci look which sits perfectly in his quiet statement-making wheelhouse.
Three Shades Of Grey
Even though grey isn’t my favourite colour, Troye Sivan’s three shades of grey in Prada made this look more interesting.
Checkmate
Tyriq Withers continues to be the stylish man of the moment in this brown checked AMIRI suit.
