Erdem Sloane Street Store Opening And Book Launch

Erdem hosted a cocktail party at its new store at 50a Sloane Street in London. The occasion brought together friends of the brand to celebrate both the store’s opening and the launch of Erdem Moralıoğlu’s first book, ERDEM, published by Rizzoli.

period drama in disarray

Rosamund Pike is one of our faves, but her experimental phase hasn’t been as successful as I would’ve hoped. There are so many Erdem looks, past and present, that would’ve suited her better than this. I think the M.O. was Edwardian charm, but it’s giving “period drama in disarray” rather than poetic decay. The delicate florals and corsetry could’ve whispered romance, but all those dangling ties, uneven hems, and heavy lace-up shoes make the look feel clunky. It’s a shame, because Rosamund has the elegance to pull off Erdem’s drama — this one just needed editing.

modern romantic

Hayley Atwell, on the other hand, fared much better. Even though we’ve seen this grey knit cardigan embroidered black florals from Erdem’s Fall 2025 collection before — on Emma Myers during her Wednesday Season 2 press tour — Hayley makes it feel brand new when paired with the matching skirt, the result is more elevated. I never thought fringed shoes would become a thing, especially for fall, but they add a fun touch. The look is completed with a velvet burgundy Erdem bag.

lost in translation

Every time I see a pair of creased trousers, I remind myself that they’re inevitable — but Rashida Jones’ Erdem look presents a different problem. Her mustard-yellow striped Erdem suit doesn’t do her any favours. The oversized tailoring leans more lounge than luxe, and the colour, while unique, washes her out under the warm lighting. If the idea was retro pyjama suiting with modern feel, it was a solid one, but in execution it feels a bit deflated. The martini glass, however, is an excellent accessory.
