Ayo Edebiri Wore Chanel To The ‘After The Hunt’ Venice Film Festival Premiere
Following her Chanel look that no one saw coming at the After The Hunt photocall during Venice Film Festival, Ayo Edebiri doubled down with a second Chanel outing for this evening’s premiere.

Both looks drew from the Chanel archives, with this red strapless gown inspired by the Fall 1986 collection—serving us a double dose of vintage energy in one day. And while Ayo has never looked more like a bona fide movie star, I have to confess: I’m struggling with this one.
It’s not the cut, not the styling, not even the creases. It’s the taffeta. Why taffeta? Of all the fabrics, this is the one that consistently makes me want to stage an intervention. The bones of the gown are there—the shape, the mood, the intent—but from the waist down, the fabric just collapses. Where the photocall look was sharp and modern, this one loses steam, ironically.
That said, Ayo is radiant. Her poise, her glow, her whole energy saves the look to a surprisingly high degree. If this is the soft launch of a Chanel partnership (they’ve done this slow-burn courtship before), then I’m intrigued. She has the range and presence to bring new life into whatever vision Matthieu Blazy is mapping out for the house.
Still, when tallying today’s Chanel double-feature, the score lands at a solid 1.5 for 2. Stunning effort, but taffeta will never be my love language.

Chanel High Jewelry completed her look.
