Cate Blanchett attended the Serpentine Summer Party on Tuesday, in a look that could’ve walked straight off the shoreline of a surrealist dreamscape.

Wearing a striking Dilara Fındıkoğlu Fall 2025 creation, Cate brought the spirit of the sea to central London. The look centred around an intricately embellished bodice that was part armour, part ocean treasure chest—adorned with sculpted shells, beads, and swirling appliqués that shimmered like they’d been fished from Poseidon’s vault. The oversized conch-like structures at the hips were impossible to miss, adding a bold, architectural twist that demanded a second, third, and fourth look.

I’ll admit, at first I missed the edgier bite of the black snakeskin trousers from the runway. But then again, this was a summer soirée, and the soft, deconstructed skirt Cate wore offered a clever tonal contrast to the highly ornate bodice. It had an artisanal texture that grounded the top half, while still allowing the overall look to remain cohesive and considered. In fact, the rough-hewn quality of the skirt made the sculptural elements shine even more.

This was less about conventional glamour and more about delivering a statement—one that aligns perfectly with the Serpentine’s celebration of art and architecture. Cate’s never been afraid to go conceptual, and here she did so without sacrificing a shred of her presence. It’s theatrical, it’s unexpected, and it’s another reminder that Cate is in her own fashion lane.
