Gong Jun Wore Stefano Pilati To The ‘Leave One Day’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Gong Jun made his return to the red carpet that truly launched him onto the global fashion radar—the Cannes Film Festival—and let’s just say, the king of the statement jacket opted to reign with a quieter kind of power this time.

For the opening ceremony and Leave One Day premiere, the Chinese actor stepped out in a custom Stefano Pilati three-piece ensemble that leaned more classic than flamboyant. Gone were the bold jackets and graphic flourishes we’ve come to associate with him. Instead, we got a sharp shirt-and-bow-tie combo, with some character woven in via the wavy detailing on his waistcoat.

The overcoat might’ve been a bit much for a sun-drenched Cannes afternoon (we’re sweating in sympathy), but as far as tailoring goes, this was clean, crisp and incredibly refined. He dialled back the drama without losing the charm.

The footwear switch—from brogues to a more streamlined pump—felt like a deliberate pivot, and the Messika brooch was a subtle sparkle that didn’t steal attention from the main event.
