2024 Critics’ Choice Awards: Menswear Edition

Chris Perfetti in Dolce & Gabbana - 2024 Critics' Choice Awards

Here is a menswear roundup from Sunday night’s 2024 Critics’ Choice Awards.

As you know grey isn’t my favourite colour, but I love the silvery tone of Chris Perfetti’s Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2024 technical wool canvas suit.

Plus I was equally fascinated by how the colour complemented his complexion as he didn’t appear washed out by this cool tone, and the styling with the lace corded t-shirt.

Archie Madekwe in Louis Vuitton - 2024 Critics Choice Awards

British actor Archie Madekwe wore a custom Louis Vuitton off-white tweed Damier jacket inspired by the Spring 2024 collection.

The look is completed with a Louis Vuitton golden belt chain and black loafers.

Styled by Felicity Kay.

Steven Yeun on Louis Vuitton - 2024 Critics Choice Awards

Steven Yeun, who continues to win big this awards season, also wore a Louis Vuitton white Damier tailored jacket with black trousers from the Spring 2024 collection.

At first the looks might seem very similar, but styling could be more different.

Archie’s feels more laidback and contemporary, whereas Steven Yeun feels like a nod to his South Korean heritage, as the style of the jacket could have been inspired by the traditional hanbok.

Barry Keoghan in Zegna - 2024 Critics' Choice Awards

If you have been looking for someone to fill that Josh O’Connor void, Barry Keoghan is stepping up to be that guy who will serve up ceremonial ‘fits while moving away from traditional black-tie, this time in a satin Zegna suit.

Some might say that the look is giving priest or religious leader, but I love how the stand collar and contrasting scarf gave this look a sartorial polish.

An OMEGA timepiece and Christian Louboutin Capitano Orlato patent leather dress shoes completed his look.

Styled by Ilaria Urbinati.

Brett Goldstein in Berluti - 2024 Critics' Choice Awards

Rose Forde gave Brett Goldstein plenty of reasons to attempt a smile in this Berluti classic shawl collar tuxedo styled with Christian Louboutin Chambelimoc loafers and a Panerai timepiece.

Charles Melton in Valentino - 2024 Critics' Choice Awards

I know some are a little disappointed not to see Charles Melton serve up the same flair he closed 2023 with while promoting ‘May December,’ but considering this is his first awards season, I was expecting a run that lent towards traditional looks.

However, this Valentino Spring 2024 red suit sees the actor make a bold statement, while showcasing his growing stylistic swagger.

An OMEGA timepiece completed his look.

Cillian Murphy in Zegna - 2024 Critics' Choice Awards

I feel like I am very much on an island by myself in terms of being obsessed with Cillian Murphy’s laidback style.

It is quite something to be dressed in this beautiful Zegna suit yet look so undone.

Looking unbothered, yet sartorially sharp has very much become his trademark.

An OMEGA timepiece completed yet another standout look.

D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai in Armani - 2024 Critics' Choice Awards

I’m swooning over the elegance oozing from D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai’s velvet Armani suit with those sleek satin lapels, which the actor styled with David Yurman jewels and Santoni shoes.

Dominic Sessa in Celine Homme - 2024 Critics' Choice Awards

Taking home the Best Young Actor Award for his role in ‘The Holdovers,’ the union between Dominic Sessa and Celine Homme proves to be a perfect fit.

The actor has that indie rocker look, and the frame for those slim-fit Hedi Slimane suits, which on this occasion was rendered in leather.

The suit was styled with Celine Drugstore Chelsea boots.

Styled by Warren Alfie Baker.

Lewis Pullman in Ralph Lauren - 2024 Critics' Choice Awards

Dominic Sessa might have been inspired by Lewis Pullman who is the man who brought the ribbon tie to the red carpet during his 2022 promo tour for Top Gun: Maverick.

Swapping the ribbon tie for a more traditional tie, the actor rocked a textured Ralph Lauren suit with Scarosso x Warren Alfie Baker boots for the occasion.

The tie made sense with this suit, as the ribbon tie wouldn’t have been as visible with the black shirt.

James Marsden in Dolce & Gabbana - 2024 Critics' Choice Awards

Either James Marsden has set an impossible standard, or I’m just not feeling any of his looks this awards season so far.

This custom Dolce & Gabbana velvet suit styled with a cashmere mock neck sweater is nice enough, but I’m missing his usual wow factor.

The look was styled with an OMEGA timepiece.

Styled by Ilaria Urbinati.

Jelani Alladin in Balmain - 2024 Critics' Choice Awards

Going shirtless in this Balmain suit, methinks Jelani Alladin has been taking style tips from Aldis Hodge, and I approve.

Hyusto boots, a Versace timepiece and David Yurman jewelry completed his look.

Styled by Mickey Freeman.

Jeremy Allen White in Saint Laurent - 2024 Critics' Choice Awards

It can be said that a tie pulls a suited look together and adds a bit of finish and authoritativeness to a tailored look, but Cillian Murphy and Jeremy Allen White do not subscribe to that notion.

‘The Bear’ actor’s Saint Laurent striped suit look is a fairly monochrome, but the Elsa Peretti® Amapola brooch in 18k gold with red silk accent adds a nice bit of colour and visual interest.

He accessorised the rest of his look with a Tiffany Lock bangle and Bulgari watch.

Styled by Jamie Mizrahi.

Joe Keery in Louis Vuitton - 2024 Critics' Choice Awards

Joe Keery was just there for the vibes in custom Louis Vuitton.

John Krasinski really is sticking to these two shades that could work together, but really don’t formula this awards season.

When it comes to this custom Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo, the critique is pretty much the same as his last outing in that the jacket needed to be in a darker tone to complement the trousers.

The idea is there, but the execution isn’t hitting for me. Perhaps it renders better in person, because the sketch is selling the vision.

The actor accessorised with a Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany Paris flames brooch in yellow gold with diamonds, Tiffany 1837® Makers cufflinks and a Tiffany Atlas® 2-Hand 37.5 mm timepiece.

Jonathan Bailey in Givenchy - 2024 Critics' Choice Awards

Jonathan Bailey was serving up ‘Men In Black’ excellence in this Givenchy Spring 2024 suit styled with an OMEGA timepiece, which is an improvement on this all-white look at the Golden Globes.

Styled by Emma Jade Morrison.

Givenchy Spring 2024
Joseph Lee in Zegna - 2024 Critics' Choice Awards

I would have never bet on brown being such a popular colour this awards season.

Joseph Lee committed two thirds of his Zegna suit to the colour of the season, styling his look with a IWC Schaffhausen timepiece.

Styled by Jeanne Yang.

Lamorne Morris in Dolce & Gabbana - 2024 Critics' Choice Awards

Lamorne Morris served up the best Dolce & Gabbana suit on this red carpet.

The Sicilia-fit jacket with its sleek peak lapels, and off-centered buttoning ensured the actor stood out.

Were the trousers too short, or just the right length to show off his Dolce & Gabbana velvet loafers?

Jewels Aficionado antique brooches completed his look.

Styled by Danielle Premone Kirkwood.

Phil Dunster in Brunello Cucinelli - 2024 Critics' Choice Awards

Phil Dunster was neither shaken or stirred in this Brunello Cucinelli suit, styled with an OMEGA timepiece and David Yurman jewels.

Styled by Warren Alfie Baker.

Ramy Youssef in Zegna - 2024 Critics' Choice Awards

This is how you do shades of brown.

Ramy Youssef was right on trend in his Zegna four-piece suit.

You weren’t sold on Phoebe Dynevor’s Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini brown look with it’s two shades, so how does this look fair?

Styled by Ilaria Urbinati.

Tom Hiddleston in Hermès - 2024 Critics' Choice Awards

There are a lot of changes here with regards to Tom Hiddleston’s style, and I’m not sure I’m ready for them.

We have the British actor swap his life-long commitment to slim-fit Ralph Lauren suits for this Hermès leather patch suit.

While I’m on board with the actor venturing out and trying other brands, I’m not sold on the black shirt or the wide-leg trousers here.

Tom let it be known that he was wearing a IWC Schaffhausen timepiece.

Tyler James Williams in Thom Browne - 2024 Critics Choice Awards

Tyler James Williams served up a refreshing simple Thom Browne look styled with a Cartier timepiece.
