Kerry Washington joined Janelle Monáe on the red carpet for the 5th American Black Film Festival Honors: A Celebration Of Excellence In Hollywood on Sunday (March 5) in West Hollywood, California.
This year we seem to be seeing more reruns, rewears and archival looks than ever before.
What makes Kerry’s Marc Bouwer red velvet ruched dress special, is the fact that it was first worn by the late Whitney Houston, when she performed at the BET Walk of Fame in 1996.
This outing didn’t cause any controversy unlike Kim Kardashian’s Marilyn Monroe Met Gala moment, but it’s definitely one for Kerry’s Hall of Fame.
Kerry took her tribute step further by posting a video to her Instagram lip-synching to Whitney’s ‘I Have Nothing,’ calling the opportunity to wear the gown “incredibly special”.
Kerry is now the third person to wear this dress after Brooks Nader who wore it last year.
