Katy Perry graced the red carpet for NBC’s ‘Carol Burnett: 90 Years Of Laughter + Love’ Birthday Special on Thursday (March 2) Los Angeles, California.

I speak for some of us when I say that we love a theatrical Katy Perry moment, and this vintage Bob Mackie Couture moment is truly one of them.

Some might say this is dated, but consider that this velvet beaded hooded gown was originally designed in 1989 for the San Francisco Opera’s 1989 production of ‘Lulu.’

Rather than deem this as dated, I prefer to marvel at this piece as a perfect example of Bob Mackie genius.

No one does (did) theatrical drama like Bob Mackie.  From the sparkling crystals and eye-catching striped beadwork this piece is truly enchanting, and Katy Perry was the perfect person to give it a new lease of life.
